Reliable assesments
Pros

When working closely with coders at my company to develop software, we rely on Helix ALM to make sure our developments are state-of-the-art. So far, it has proven to be reliable in making our workspace productive.

Cons

I have no complaints as I like everything about this service.

Traceability matrix and Helix general use
Pros

I like how the traceability is showed and connected on a single page. It allows for easy addition of new test cases and requirements which supports the flow of requirements from start to end.

Cons

In test execution, the execution itself is good but when it comes to sample size, where there should generally be one Pass/Fail status, I receive multiple results per number of samples.

Excellent Defect management tool
Pros

Instead of editing each defect one by one, we can select a group of defects and make changes to fields like test owner or risk score. This saves us a significant amount of time.

Cons

This tool functions well in Internet Explorer. It would be fantastic if they offer browser compatibility for Chrome as well.

Helix ALM all in one package
Pros

While there are numerous packages available, few offer the convenience of an all-in-one support center package like Perforce Helix. People often overlook the fact that the user's learning time is the most significant investment, and having a flexible tool with strong support and ownership is essential. Many other tool packages depend on unpredictable email or user group/forum support for their interconnected parts. I have spent hours to days searching for help with problems in some of those tools. That said, I like that Helix is quite configurable, flexible and well-supported with a phone center, tutorials, examples and templates.

Cons

Round tripping items with MS tools like Word and Excel is somewhat a bit confusing. Editing in Helix is limited compared to the familiar MS Word.

Usage of Perforce
Pros

The ability to shelve files is a fantastic feature for users. It ensures that files are saved on the server, so even if a developer's system crashes or they leave the company, other users can retrieve them.

Cons

When a new file or folder is created in a "workspace," I cannot add it until I have included the folder in the workspace configuration. It's not intuitive enough, especially for new users.

Usefull tool but need lot of improvements
Pros

I love having everything in one place, including requirements and test cases. However, I am still learning and I feel there is not enough web content compared to JIRA.

Cons

I cannot create the dashboards that I need. The available widgets are not enough and I cannot create any custom widgets. As my team works on multiple projects, I have to write multiple reports to track our work.

Difficult to set up, but quite powerful
Pros

Helix ALM offers a lot of flexibility and can be configured to meet any specific needs. It can automate certain steps and provides excellent customer support when needed.

Cons

Setting up the software can be somewhat difficult and if set up incorrectly, it becomes extremely difficult to use.

Helix ALM has the necessary core features but needs work in terms of usability
Pros

The software offers excellent functionality for linking various pieces of information between different modules like requirements, test case management and defect tracking. It is quite flexible and adaptable to different workflows.

Cons

The text editing function is the aspect of the software that I least prefer. Copying and pasting tends to disrupt linefeeds, creating nested bullet lists has inconsistent behavior, and editing or creating tables is very awkward. The text editor is functional, but it falls below the minimum expectations for a modern text editor.

Working for more than 1 year with this tool and I am very satisfied in Helix.
Pros

Filters are the most important feature for us, and we use them as much as possible. Additionally, we are very satisfied with the Requirements section.

Cons

Some filters during Helix item creation are necessary but not marked as required, such as Impact.

function rich software.
Pros

The software allows for easy sorting of items using catalogs. It is highly flexible and can be customized to suit our needs.

Cons

In the issue window, it is hard to see certain details as they are hidden in various tabs. We often miss attached additional files and the number of reports.

Since buying the product when it was called Test Track Pro it has been a good relationship
Pros

It is easy to use for both IT people and business users. Whenever we have had questions, the support from Seapine Software has been quick and helpful.

Cons

Reporting has always been somewhat weak, but we manage. Test case management works well for us.

Using every day.
Pros

The dashboard looks really impressive and provides valuable information. I particularly like the issues filters, which make it easy to find specific issues.

Cons

It would be better if there were no lags. Some workflow steps could be improved and it would be helpful to assign one flow to two users.

the product is an example of an old desk top application
Pros

There is nothing good that can be said about this product. It feels outdated, cumbersome and clunky. It desperately needs to be refactored and replaced.

Cons

The reports are poor and difficult to create. It does not support different types of issues and it does not fully support the Scrum approach.

Great test case/requirement management tool
Pros

The test case/test run model is my favorite as it allows me to generate base tests and instantiate them using test runs. I only need to write the test once and can generate it multiple times for each feature release or sprint.

Cons

The web interface for the product is not as feature-rich as the thin client. It would be great to see feature parity between the two.

Pros

The web interface eliminates the need for client software and makes it easy to use. It can also be easily customized with custom fields.

Cons

Exporting reports to Word for incorporating test cases into our company's document template is not simple.

I've been using Helix ALM over 5 years. This was a great experience of combined SCM and Helix.
Pros

I like the workflow customization and integration with source providers. The dashboards have a nice look and provide helpful features for planning future releases.

Cons

Emails sent by Helix ALM lack HTML support. Inline images are still not supported and I think links could be displayed in a more user-friendly manner.

Using the TestTrac with a smal process
Pros

It is amazing how easily the software can be adjusted to fit our specific needs, whether we have small or complex processes.

Cons

We are using an older version from 2012, so we are not aware of the newest features. This older version is not very pleasant to use and lacks ease of use.

Pros

The user interface is very much self-explanatory, and items can be easily configured to meet different types of requirements.

Cons

While many aspects are configurable, the inability to save and distribute a view between users and specific documents significantly minimize usability.

Easy to set up and configure
Pros

It is easy to set up, configure and administer. It is a great way to keep things organized and ensure the team stays on track with tasks.

Cons

It is a client-based application. It would be great if it were converted into a web application. Additionally, the setup can become overwhelming if you overcomplicate it.

Helix ALM allows us to track a project from beginning stages through the upkeep and maintenance
Pros

The software is easy to use and customize for specific projects. It allows for easy tracking of tasks/issues to requirements and facilitates the development of test cases.

Cons

Not all features are available through the web interface which makes it challenging to perform administrative tasks online when access to a workstation on the server's network is not available.

It does Everything, but not always easily!
Pros

I like how Helix ALM ties everything together, providing excellent traceability when properly set up. It is a really powerful and flexible tool.

Cons

With great flexibility comes a lot of configuration. It's not always easy to modify our workflow once it has been in use for a while. It is frustrating that I have to remove everyone from the project to make even minor changes to the workflow and events. The cost of licenses makes it difficult for us to have enough for everyone.

Powerful tool for product development, learning curve is difficult for new users (using 2015.1.2)
Pros

Helix ALM captures requirements, bugs and testing all in one place, which ensures everyone is using the most up-to-date version. It is easy to add new users and licenses, and fields and text can be easily updated to match project needs.

Cons

Word export challenges have led our team to stop using the export feature. We now have to update information twiceonce in the ALM and once in our "official" Word version. Test case and test run setup is not WYSIWYG when embedding images into test steps, which greatly annoys my developers. The test run system is not adaptable to mechanical testing, where there is a single test setup and multiple samples to run. Validation overhead for medical device software tool requirements makes updating difficult without incurring re-validation costs. The tool is not particularly user-friendly; although I have used it for years and know where everything is, new users, especially those who are less tech-savvy, struggle to navigate the workflow and execute tests in the system.

I have been using this software for a year and a half, and it is good in its speed and execution.
Pros

The speed, execution and utilization of different features like sending emails, record and playback, and user-defined codes are excellent.

Cons

The methodology used for recording, such as the Contextmenu, often causes playback sessions to fail, even when the necessary objects are available on the screen. Most of the time, I have to debug the tool rather than the software I'm recording against.
