What Is Revit Software?

Overview

Revit is a powerful cloud-enabled Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. It delivers a unified environment for architectural design, structural engineering, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) modeling, and streamlined construction documentation.

The software tackles the complexities of building design by facilitating multi-disciplinary collaboration, parametric modeling, and an extensive library of intelligent components. It is useful for boosting accuracy, minimizing coordination errors and delivering projects from inception to completion.

What Is Revit Software Best For?

Revit is best known for its centralized data-driven approach, serving as a 'single source of truth' for building design. Its parametric modeling ensures changes made anywhere in the model propagate automatically across all views, plans, and schedules. This eliminates the need for repetitive manual updates across multiple drawings, significantly enhancing efficiency and reducing errors.

Revit Software Pricing

The software offers various pricing options that include

  • 3-Year Plan - $8,730/user
  • 1-Year Plan - $2,910/user
  • Monthly - $350/user
You can also request a custom Revit cost right away to meet your organizational needs.

Disclaimer: The pricing is subject to change.

Revit Software Integrations

The software does not offer any third-party integrations.

How Does Revit Software Work?

Here is how you can start with the Revit Autodesk account:

  • Log in to access the dashboard with your credentials
  • Navigate the central dashboard for a high-level overview of active projects, task assignments, and team updates
  • Create a new project, or open an existing one, to begin modeling
  • Explore the intuitive modeling workspace with tools organized by discipline (architectural, structural, MEP)
  • Start modeling by placing intelligent building components like walls, floors, windows, structural elements, and MEP systems
  • Link external files as needed (CAD drawings, survey data, etc.) for reference and coordination
  • Generate detailed views, schedules, and construction documentation directly from the 3D model

Revit Software Features

It enables simultaneous collaboration on a single project model by multiple team members across different locations. This real-time, centralized workflow enhances project coordination, reduces the risk of conflicting changes, and allows team members to remain in sync.

See How It Works

It allows users to create detailed schedules for materials, construction components, and room data that automatically update as changes are made to the model. This improves accuracy in tracking materials, costs, and project timelines while eliminating the need to manually update multiple spreadsheets.

See How It Works

The software Provides a library of intelligent building components (walls, doors, roofs, etc.) with definable parameters. When you modify a parameter, the changes propagate automatically, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the entire model and reducing rework.

See How It Works

Revit software Offers robust tools for adding dimensions, notes, tags, and symbols to drawings while maintaining linkage to the 3D model. This ensures clear and accurate design communication, with any updates to the model reflected across all relevant documentation.

See How It Works

Harness the power of computation to explore multiple design options based on user-defined goals and constraints. Revit can rapidly generate variations, helping users analyze design alternatives, optimize outcomes, and drive data-informed decisions.

Revit is the way to go

Pros

It's super simple to use. There are tons of BIMs out there, and they are a wonderful asset. The third-party 3D modeling software takes your Revit floor plan to the next level.

Cons

The newest update with its templates is cool but leads to some really weird and stupid issues.
