Pros

What I love most about the system is how adaptable it is. It offers great flexibility, allowing everything from its features to its design and appearance to be fully customized. The only cost involved was to a third-party vendor who made the necessary code modifications and integrated them into our system. However, this cost is minimal compared to the many benefits we've gained from using FreeMED. There are alot of templates available for customization, making it much easier and more enjoyable to run our practice. The software's outstanding EMR features are also incredibly helpful in managing our practice's day-to-day activities.

Cons

The UI is extremely basic and feels at least 10 years old. This could be partly due to it being completely free but even open source free software like Android receives fresh UI updates regularly. Updates are rare and any problem we face sits for at least a week before we hire someone to fix it for us. I would appreciate it if some official training program was available. Customer service is basically non-existent, which is understable, but that leaves you stranded in the middle if you run into a problem.

Pros

FreeMED has enabled us to eliminate paper files completely. It has made document management a breeze which keeps us more organized. We moved all our papers to the digital database and use just FreeMED to run our practice now. It is very simple and has all the features that a doctor may need. Features such as appointment reminders and the opportunity to generate and add your own papers are what I like the most. I also appreciate that they have put effort into templates that are already included in base software.

Cons

Training myself and the employees was a bit difficult. With every other paid software, we have an option to get the staff trained via in-person or online training. This is not the case with FreeMED, though. There are no hands-on tutorial choices available or the possibility of arranging a training session. Only a handful of videos are available online which deal with the most basic tasks and nothing more. There should be some hands-on instruction or customized training programs with a payment plan which we won’t mind at all.

Pros

The FreeMED EMR software has so many fantastic features that have assisted us in increasing our productivity. It is the only software I implemented in the beginning since it was free, but it turned out to be so great that I would even pay to have it implemented in my system. All the features are so well made that it is hard to believe that it is all available at no cost. FreeMED integrates with third party software so well and almost all other software I use can access it. I love that I can just open one app to complete all of my work.

Cons

Since it is open source, it is very basic and requires a lot of work to be done in order to truly make it useful. There are no features in the software that may assist us in organizing our patients appointments or medical bills. We had to stitch many pieces together and still use multiple software to run our practice just to keep the overheads under control. This is something that I already expected and made amends accordingly. Hiring a coding expert solved the problem for us and FreeMED is still cheaper than the rest after all the expenses.
