“Simple, affordable and easy to use

Pros

Fund E-Z is quite simple and easy to use. It provides all the necessary functions without any confusing extras. Moreover, it is very affordable.

Cons

The product is still desktop based. In today's world, we need cloud based applications. I hope they will make it cloud based in the near future.

“Highly customizable with responsive support

Pros

The product provides me the freedom to fully customize my chart of accounts and reports. They have an advanced report module that allows for even more customization. The vendor is highly responsive and constantly supports and improves the product through new revisions and updated versions.

Cons

The transition from version 9 to 10 brought about significant improvements, but the software structure shifted to an SQL-based system. As someone accustomed to entering data and scrolling with a mouse, I've encountered a few issues. For instance, when working on a journal entry and attempting to scroll down using the mouse, if I happen to be on a debit or credit field, it scrolls through the numbers instead of moving the screen. I had to adapt to using the side arrows, which, even after two years, we still struggle with. While this shouldn't deter consideration, it's something you should be aware of.

“Outstanding after-market support with quick response

Pros

I love the excellent after-market support. My department has confidence in the company's ability to promptly assist us with any technical issues. We are extremely satisfied with the quick response time in addressing our inquiries and completing necessary work.

Cons

Occasionally, crucial information from certain colleagues may vary. The product has a steep learning curve and it can be expensive.

“Decent system for managing funds

Pros

Fund EZ offers an account structure that allows me to enter transactions based on funds (unrestricted, temporarily restricted or permanently restricted revenue) and account numbers (such as cash, accounts payable, individual donations, salary expense etc). Also I can drill down by cost center 1 (programs), cost center 2 (activity within a program), and cost center 3 (funder) or variations of this setup.

Cons

With the update to version 10 of Fund EZ, several keystrokes that were previously applicable no longer work, resulting in more time-consuming data entry. Updating to subsequent versions is not a simple process too.

“Good solution for small mid-sized NPOs

Pros

We are delighted by the fact that a lot of options are available to filter different data and have the ability to export in various formats. The technical support has been helpful thus far in answering any questions we've had.

Cons

It would be fantastic to have more filter options and fields available for inclusion in reports. The ability to compare budget versus actuals each quarter with reprojections would also be highly beneficial.
