“Organized bill payments”

Pros

It has made our bill payment workflow much more organized and efficient.

Cons

We ran into a minor issue with how MakersHub was reading our check request forms but it was resolved quickly with a small adjustment to the form. Since then, we haven't experienced any other problems.

“Time-saving and highly recommended”

Pros

Using it to capture images and read them has really improved how I manage my time. It saves a lot of hours that used to go into manual work and the pricing is affordable too. I'd absolutely recommend it.

Cons

I don't really have any downsides to mention. For a new software, it has delivered even more than I expected.

“Fantastic approval tools”

Pros

The approval features are what pulled me in at first and I originally planned to use it for just one client. After spending more time with it and working with their customer support, I've become a big fan. Now I've brought several clients onto the platform and have even referred a few colleagues to it.

Cons

Compared with some other platforms, it doesn't feel quite as user-friendly. I've had to reach out for training on a few different things because I couldn't always work them out on my own. On the bright side, the customer service is excellent so it hasn't really become a dealbreaker.

“Clear payment audit trail”

Pros

Using it has been very simple and one thing that really stands out is how clearly it shows the payment timeline. The logs for when payments were authorized, submitted, withdrawn and deposited make it very easy to follow exactly what happened and give a reliable audit trail.

Cons

The QBO bill sync could be improved a bit. Right now, it does not show which bills have already synced until you actually click sync. I also think it would be helpful to have template emails available for vendor payment requests.

“accurate expense tracking”

Pros

It has saved me a lot of time. It records expenses accurately and with more detail than I'd probably include if I were entering everything by hand.

Cons

I'd really like the ability to choose expedited payments myself when scheduling them. I've been told that might be available in the future.

“Cuts down manual data entry”

Pros

Since using it, manual data entry has dropped a lot, errors are almost nonexistent and I usually check invoices in MakersHub instead of QuickBooks because it gets me there faster.

Cons

A few things still need work, especially the option to record a receipt directly as an expense instead of creating both a bill entry and a bill payment entry for every receipt. Also, when invoices from different vendors look too similar, they sometimes get assigned to just one vendor even when they actually belong to someone else.

“extremely capable tool”

Pros

Right away, the tool's design felt polished and the billing and payment workflow made sense without much effort. On top of that, the MakersHub team was outstanding when it came to getting everything set up and helping resolve any issues along the way.

Cons

It becomes an incredibly capable tool once it's configured the right way. That said, getting to that point took quite a bit of assistance from their team and they were always happy to provide the support needed.

“Remote payments with clear visibility”

Pros

Being able to handle payments remotely has made a real difference for us. It lowers the risk of checks getting intercepted in the mail and it also gives us much better visibility into where everything is in the process.

Cons

At times, scanning errors show up and interrupt the workflow. Because the system does not always scan or calculate the payment correctly, we also miss chances to take advantage of early payment discounts.

“Huge time saver”

Pros

One of the biggest benefits has been how much time this saves me and the features really make my job easier. The copy-down function is especially helpful and I really appreciate that the software remembers my accounts and descriptions.

Cons

Would be nice to update the bills screen so it matches the layout of the payments screen. The bills and archive screen can be a little difficult to read, especially the bills section when you're trying to find something and have to scan across three tiles in each row instead of reviewing items one by one in a single row.

“Invoice processing in minutes”

Pros

Entering invoices is incredibly fast now, it used to take hours and now it only takes minutes. It also includes features I had been wanting for a long time but previously had to find workarounds for like Approve and Pay when an invoice has already been paid. On top of that, the 2-way sync is a huge plus because if something gets paid in QuickBooks, it automatically updates as paid in Makershub without any extra effort from me.

Cons

Search function should be better. It's so customizable that it can actually feel a bit harder to use than it should be.
