Powerful features without complications

Pros

It delivers powerful features without the typical complications of creating and managing useful reports. Plus we still have plenty of room to expand how we use Business Control throughout our company. The latest version processes information incredibly fast! Even we can pull detailed transaction data from our main ERP system and distribute it through dozens of user reports in just a couple of minutes. It actually processes and delivers information quicker than our original ERP software does.

Cons

We noticed the graphics features were not the strongest part of the package though it is good to see the team is already working on improvements for that.

simple to learn with great potential

Pros

The platform is simple to learn and offers great potential for creating various types of analysis and custom dashboards.

Cons

Figuring out how to set up new analyses can be a bit of a challenge at first but once we have everything configured, actually running them is a smooth process.

Easy to access and use for analysis

Pros

It is easy to access and use. I also like being able to both analyze information and enter new data. In short they are a great company to partner with.

Cons

Getting fresh data into the setup can be tricky especially since it's all based on SQL.

very adaptable for sophisticated reports

Pros

Mercur software is very adaptable and offers numerous ways to build sophisticated reports and data entry forms.

Cons

There is not an automatic link connecting the reports and the input forms as the whole process really depends on the user and how the Company designs everything. So we definitely need to have solid documentation.

User-friendly with great twist and turn function

Pros

I like the user-friendly interface and the twist and turn function which goes beyond the standard drill-down capability.

Cons

My main wish for it is that pulling in data from other places was a more simple process.

simple to operate with a clear overview

Pros

It is simple to operate and update, providing a clear overview of the information I need to examine. Also it is an excellent analysis tool because we can drill down and pivot data that is normally very rigid.

Cons

We have found that reports with a lot of dependencies can run a little slow but the system always pulls through and delivers the information after it's published.

Easy to use and manage for end users

Pros

The system is easy to use and manage and end users can learn it quickly. Like you do not need to hire consultants for all the development and reporting as you can accomplish a lot on your own without being a programmer. I also like that you can suggest new features and if they are good ideas, see them added to the system. It feels like the development and support team is very responsive to customer needs.

Cons

Occasionally the requirement for special customizations makes maintenance a bit tough and we have to bring in consultants for help. On the bright side, it is great that these custom solutions for specific problems can actually be done.

very simple to implement and use

Pros

Mercur is very simple to implement and use. We handle all our monthly reporting, budgeting and forecasting in it and it is very easy for our managers to access their cost centers and drill down to individual invoices. We have many new store managers and staff across Europe and Asia and they become proficient with Mercur after just 15 minutes of training.

Cons

For our team, It works well for standard reporting but we do not really use it for any heavy-duty, complex analysis.

Easy to pull key metrics and present them

Pros

Once we get familiar with it, it is easy to pull all the key metrics and present them clearly to others.

Cons

It feels a bit less user friendly for people who are not economists. So there should be a bigger focus on making the output clearer so that professionals like doctors and nurses for example can grasp it without any trouble.

user friendly with an attractive design

Pros

It is userfriendly, has an attractive design and makes it simple to build custom reports. Also it is an effective tool for delivering the right information to every level of the company and it is also powerful for analysis and decision-making.

Cons

The process of moving our system from BC6 over to BC8 ended up taking more time than we had originally planned for.

Support is always easy to reach

Pros

Support is always easy to reach for maintenance, development and daily assistance. They respond quickly with high-quality solutions. We genuinely love our consultant and the support service. Also the system is easy to configure and develop and we always trust the accuracy of our data.

Cons

I feel like the software is missing some effective features for managing our row and column templates and the same goes for handling hierarchies.

easy to navigate and understand

Pros

The system is very easy to navigate and use. Plus it helps me understand the financial figures clearly even though I do not have a background in accounting.

Cons

Moving from Mercur 6 to 8 was an improvement but there are still times where I have to export my reports to Excel just to tweak things or run different scenarios.

Improved our reporting a lot

Pros

Mercur platform is user friendly and simple to operate and we had great help from their consultants during setup. Overall it has significantly enhanced our reporting and forecasting. And we love that we can analyze data from multiple angles and create our own custom reports without needing to call in outside help.

Cons

Honestly I have not run into any downsides. As it does everything we need it to.

Mercur has truly transformed our forecasting process. And once you get familiar with how the reporting tools work, customizing them to fit your specific preferences becomes quite simple.

Cons

Easy enough for occasional users
