Easy Expense Software

Pros

This software is EXTREMELY user-friendly. I can simply take a photo of my receipts with my phone and upload them through the app or via email which eliminates any worries about losing receipts. It's also convenient to link a card, especially if I have a dedicated business card. The mileage feature is great too, although it works much better on the app compared to the web portal.

Cons

Occasionally, the Tallie mobile application freezes, which forces me to use the web portal. This is not ideal, especially when I am traveling. Additionally, moving expenses around using drag and drop is much simpler on the web portal compared to the app.

Cons

I have no complaints. It's incredibly user-friendly, and the software is self-explanatory.

Integration with Amex issues

Pros

We implemented this expense management system for our 100 sales employees. Reimbursement was done through checks, and submission of receipts was required for Amex cards.

Cons

The Amex portion was linked to multiple people, which didn't make sense. It took us 6 months to realize that there wasn't enough detail exposed to Tallie regarding the card number (we were only showing the last 4 digits, but Amex requires the last 7 or 8 digits to prevent duplicate numbers from being shown). Unfortunately, Tallie support was not helpful, and we ended up abandoning the software because our accounting team didn't want to take responsibility for getting it to work properly.

Terrible software - ADMINs & Startups - avoid like the plague

Pros

Until recently, they had live chat support, which I really liked. However, they have switched to email-only support. On the bright side, they do offer some excellent enterprise features for user groups and permissions.

Cons

There are too many issues to list. Firstly, the synchronization constantly fails, which is a major problem. Be prepared for a full day just for a normal sync with your accounting software. In comparison, Bill.com only takes about 1 minute to sync. Whether it's QBO, Xero, or others, it doesn't matter. You'll have more fun watching paint dry. Secondly, the Accounting Integration is broken, especially with Xero. So, if you manage to sync successfully, congratulations! But get ready for constant unexplained problems during export, such as "Xero API call not recognized" or "There was a problem exporting your report. Please fix the errors and try again: The provided Xero API credentials are invalid" (even though the app logged into Xero correctly). Thirdly, the app is terrible and lacks basic functionalities. Fourthly, the customer service is bad. Despite acknowledging problems with their product, they put zero effort into making corrections or compensating the end user for the wasted time. Fifthly, there is no image recognition. Furthermore, there is no chat for customer service. Lastly, refer to the first and second points above.

Good for Large Businesses

Pros

Tallie is highly flexible and can be customized to suit the needs of our non-profit contract bill for services model.

Cons

The phone app sometimes struggles to transmit receipt photos accurately, so I need to switch to a desktop to verify uploads.

I use Tallie in my current position to track expenses such as reimbursements and mileage.

Pros

One of the things I love about Tallie is how easily I can upload documents, such as photos of receipts and the system automatically fills in some information. This saves time and can be done easily from any device. The website interface is also very user-friendly.

Cons

My only complaint about Tallie is that I have to manually enable "billable." In my organization, all the expenses we enter are billable by default.

Pros

Tallie is superfast and can be downloaded on your phone which allows you to use it anywhere. Plus, if you need assistance, customer service is readily available.

Cons

I've noticed that sometimes, when I take a picture of something using the mobile phone, it doesn't show up accurately.

Easy to use as an employee

Pros

As an employee, Tallie provides a fantastic centralized way to submit all my expenses and get them approved. It's much better than submitting hard copies of receipts. The availability of the mobile version and the capability to take pictures of receipts make it even better.

Cons

These notifications keep popping up, claiming that the expense reimbursement is "out of policy," but that's not really true. It could be just policy settings, but for some unknown reason, certain expense categories or settings are occasionally hidden. Other than these bugs, the software works great.

Tallie Make Life Simpler

Pros

Tallie is a simple platform for building and submitting expense reports. I can easily drag and drop receipts into the web portal, and the submission process is pretty simple.

Cons

The Tallie mobile application frequently freezes, which forces me to resort to using the web portal. This can be frustrating, especially when I am traveling and need to do my expense reports on the go.

Awesome app for expense tracking

Pros

The web and smartphone interfaces for end users are easy to navigate. Compared to other apps, Tallie is relatively easy to set up. It integrates well with Bill.com, QuickBooks and other platforms.

Cons

While the time savings outweigh the cost for many organizations, it can still be a barrier for some. It integrates well with the QuickBooks vendor list.

Grasping for that balance between easy-to-use and having lots of features

Pros

In terms of expense tracking, it offers a decent level of flexibility. There are numerous options for setting up approvals, fine-tuning employee access and more. Its most valuable feature is the seamless sync with Bill.com and QuickBooks Online. Once you overcome the initial learning curve, you will discover some impressive advanced features, such as the ability to "masquerade" as different users, designate employees as "executive assistants" to assist less tech-savvy colleagues with accurate report completion, and create somewhat complex approval workflows.

Cons

The online support isn't impressive. I've often found better information by reading forums instead of relying on Tallie's support page. However, their email support is helpful, which is a plus. I just wish there were better resources available to help with minor setup issues. Additionally, it's more expensive than other expense management software, making it cost-prohibitive for some of our smaller clients. It would also be great if we could set expense reports to auto-submit at the end of the month, but that feature is only available for expenses coded to a corporate credit card.

Convenient and easy way to track expenses!

Pros

The convenience it provides is remarkable, especially with its excellent mobile app. I can simply take a picture of my receipts using my phone and submit them right away through the app or via email. No need to worry about keeping track of loose receipts anymore!

Cons

It was a bit confusing at first, and sometimes it's slow when uploading receipts. Personally, I prefer using the app over the desktop version.

Tallie for expense reporting

Pros

Sending receipts has become a simple process. I just need to snap a photo and email it after each purchase. Creating reports is easy too. It's helpful to be able to assign a specific title to avoid confusion with expense reports.

Cons

Emburse Tallie doesn't automatically select the last or frequently chosen option, so it requires a bit more effort to manually choose from the options available.

Tallie Saves Time on Receipt Tracking

Pros

I love the fact that how it offers an easy and simple method for my team to track receipts. It significantly helps us maintain backup for all our expenses.

Cons

We find that there are numerous features in Tallie that we simply don't need and never use. Specifically, we don't have a use for tracking mileage using the app. The contractors we reimburse for mileage aren't familiar enough with technology to utilize the app, so we continue using our existing systems.

Selected Tallie as our firm's T&E reporting tool of choice based on overall ease of use and value.

Pros

The mobile app's functionality for uploading receipts on the go is very beneficial. I particularly liked how it automatically groups expenses into an open expense report based on whether they are reimbursable or non-reimbursable (corporate credit card). The initial user setup was intuitive and easily completed.

Cons

Unfortunately, the Tallie app lacks the capability to process reimbursements internally. Instead, we have to integrate it with a payment processing application or directly with our accounting software for payment. Additionally, until recently, Tallie didn't have an assistant feature for C-suite executives.

Useful for recordkeeping as well

Pros

In our search for expense reporting systems, we struggled to find a solution that offered what Tallie does the ability to capture receipts. Both the app and website are user-friendly and intuitive. The expense reports are clear and easy to understand. One of our favorite features is its seamless integration with Bill.com, which we use to reimburse our clients' employees. Additionally, some clients utilize it as a receipt storage system for their credit card purchases. The receipts are automatically matched with each downloaded transaction. The QuickBooks integration works exceptionally well, importing each transaction individually with vendor, account, and class data. This simplifies the process of reconciling credit cards at the end of each month.

Cons

The only aspect of Tallie that could still use some improvement is their OCR (Optical Character Recognition) functionality. We've observed that it's approximately 80% accurate when matching receipts to downloaded transactions. Every month, we need to spend some time cleaning up and removing duplicates, as well as merging transactions. Thankfully, duplicates are relatively easy to identify, so it's not overly burdensome.

I prefer Nexonia but they're essentially the same

Pros

I truly like having expense report portals that keep everything organized in one place. It makes me wonder how we managed with Excel before. It's much simpler for all users to have everything consolidated and ensure the correct approvers are involved.

Cons

There is room for improvement in a few areas.
