Generates invoices, handles scheduling

Pros

I really appreciate this program because it lets me generate invoices, set up appointments and handle scheduling which has made my workload much easier. It's very user-friendly even for someone like me with limited IT experience.

Cons

While the app itself works fine for my needs, I am frustrated by the poor customer support, it's really lacking and definitely needs significant improvement to match the quality of the software.

Pros

Using Wave Accounting, I am able to create and send unlimited, customized invoices to my clients which has really streamlined tasks across our organization. The interface feels user-friendly and easy to navigate and use.

Cons

I cannot reach customer support by phone or email, it's restricted to chatbots that frequently aren't helpful in most situations for me.

Easy accounting with great value

Pros

I am happy with this app, it lets me create unlimited expense invoices and receipts which makes handling and tracking my monthly expenses much simpler. It's easy to navigate and I really appreciate the clean interface.

Cons

A drawback is the entirely self-serve customer support model. they only use automated chatbots and I have found that they sometimes fail to provide the specific help I need.

Terrible service and no loyalty

Pros

I appreciated that their fees were on par with PayPal but that changed when they abruptly cut me off as a customer without any warning, after that, the service definitely wasn't worth the cost.

Cons

In my experience their customer service team lied to me, they weren't transparent about policies and I felt they showed no loyalty to customers.

Easy to use and navigate

Pros

Well I am really fond of it, I find it super easy to navigate and get things done.

Cons

It would really help me if the invoices made it much easier to mark payments as coming from Zelle or Cash App.

Bank syncing made it unusable

Pros

I found it inexpensive and fairly easy to set up and operate.

Cons

After doing the research, I picked Wave for my bookkeeping. My business has three people which is enough to make accounting more involved than the simple spreadsheet I had been keeping myself. When I first switched over there was a noticeable learning curve and while the software wasn't flawless I was managing to make it work. I even paid the extra monthly charge for their payroll service which functioned fine at first. Then, about nine months after starting, Wave stopped importing transactions from my bank account. I reached out through their chatbot and was told the problem was with Plaid, the third-party vendor that handles bank connections and that I would need to wait until Plaid resolved it. I called my bank next and they had no knowledge of any Plaid outage which made the situation even more confusing. I tried contacting Wave again but kept getting the same unsatisfying answer, essentially wait for Plaid to fix it. Now it's been around six weeks with no imported data and I am left trying to find a new accounting package, rebuild my records and then learn another system from scratch. This whole headache shouldn't be necessary, I want to focus on running my business instead of wasting time troubleshooting why the accounting software won't keep working.

Easy payment tracking but confusing

Pros

I like that I can monitor my payments and I find it easy to do so.

Cons

What annoys me is how convoluted the system feels, it asks for an overwhelming amount of information just to process payments. I often find it hard to navigate or to explain the steps to someone else and the customer support isn't very helpful either.

Easy and reliable for us

Pros

This accounting package is really useful because it provides a free, simple-to-navigate option tailored for small businesses. It includes many top features and a really user-friendly interface. My company has been thriving with this software.

Cons

Aside from customer support being somewhat slow at times, we haven't encountered any real issues with the program.

Payments process was a nightmare

Pros

I find invoicing easy and creating a customer database very simple to manage.

Cons

When I tried to collect payments using Wave, they let me go ahead and submit payment requests and supply my bank routing details and I even received a customer's payment before they asked me to fill out a questionnaire. After that, I was informed that my account was not approved to receive payments and that the funds would be held for sixty-five days before being returned to the payer. There appears to be only a single point of contact and that person was unable to explain why my application was declined and refused to assist in speeding up the refund. It feels like the only result is that Wave gets to retain my money for an extended period and potentially earn interest on it while I wait. In my case the sum was under ten thousand dollars but if they repeat this pattern with many users they are clearly benefiting from holding those balances. Overall this experience left me frustrated and suspicious that the process was designed to advantage the company rather than support the customer.

Super easy and intuitive

Pros

I am impressed by how user-friendly it feels, the sidebar categories make navigation a breeze so everything feels user-friendly and I can draft estimates really quickly without stumbling over menus.

Cons

All in all the program works well though I do wish the customer section was a bit more polished and offered clearer options for managing client details.

Great invoicing for small businesses

Pros

Using Wave Accounting, I can produce polished, professional invoices that are easy to send to clients on time. I was able to tailor the invoices to reflect our company's branding. One feature I really appreciate is being able to schedule automatic reminders for overdue bills. The whole interface feels user-friendly and packed with tools, I believe it offers everything a small business needs to improve operations and grow successfully.

Cons

Honestly I have noticed a huge gap between the web version and the mobile app, it's like night and day. While the website works quite well, the mobile app falls short. It takes forever to load and when it finally does respond, it's often unresponsive, I end up force-closing it and reopening several times before it behaves.

Awful support and broken trust

Pros

What I really liked was how effortless it was to clone invoices and bill customers credit cards.

Cons

I had the worst experience with their customer support, hands down the worst I have ever encountered. They straight-up lied to me and because I believed them I ended up repeating that false info to my staff about when they'd be paid. I shouldn't have trusted them and I feel foolish for doing so.

Simple and reliable accounting tool

Pros

I am comfortable using it because it's easy and very easy to navigate for users who aren't versed in accounting, it follows a double-entry accounting method which helps guarantee the accuracy of my accounts and keeps everything aligned with established accounting standards.

Cons

I find the lack of phone support frustrating. Wave Accounting doesn't provide phone-based customer service so getting technical or accounting issues resolved can become challenging.

Super easy and efficient

Pros

I am really impressed by how simple and user-friendly the interface is making it a breeze to move around. I can monitor clients who haven't paid and send them reminders straight from the platform. Overall it's helped me handle payments more efficiently and speed up when I receive my income.

Cons

I wish certain tools that exist on the desktop app were also in the mobile app for example, customer statements. It would be great to have parity between platforms so I don't have to switch to my computer to access those important features.

Love wave for payments

Pros

I have been relying on Wave to handle my invoicing, manage recurring subscriptions, process credit cards and act as the payment portal for my products sold online.

Cons

It doesn't support buy-now-pay-later choices like many other payment platforms and when an invoice becomes overdue I have to manually send a reminder after a certain period of time which is inconvenient for me.

Easy, free and worth it

Pros

The interface is so simple that I really like using this software. Even though I pay for QuickBooks, my Wave account gets used more because it's much easier to navigate than QuickBooks. I also appreciate that it's free. As a small-business owner, every dollar saved matters indeed.

Cons

I wish the app offered more customer support options and availability. Paying for help feels excessive just for a single phone call in my case.

Great free accounting pick

Pros

For small business owners like me, Wave Accounting has been a great pick because it's free, easy and covers most accounting basics. Its zero-cost model is a huge benefit when I am trying to keep expenses down. The interface is simple enough that I didn't need formal accounting training to get started, it's user-friendly and makes everyday financial tasks feel manageable. It also bundles the core features I rely on. invoicing, payroll, expense and income tracking and clear financial reports. Since it's cloud-based I can access my accounts from anywhere with an internet connection which I often do when I am away from the office. I also like that it integrates with a number of third-party tools like PayPal, Shoeboxed and Etsy which helps reduce manual work. All in all, I feel Wave is a great, no-cost option for small businesses that want an easy and fairly comprehensive accounting tool.

Cons

That said I have run into a few limitations that could be problematic depending on your needs. Support is mostly handled via email so when I need immediate help I sometimes feel stuck waiting for a response. Payroll features are handy but they only work in certain regions which is a drawback if you have staff spread across multiple locations. I have also wished for more customization on invoices and quotes, the templates feel pretty basic if you want a more polished, branded look. Another annoyance is the lack of automatic bank reconciliation which becomes tedious when you're dealing with lots of transactions. Finally, the presence of ads inside the software can be distracting while I am working. In short, while I appreciate that Wave is free and easy to use, those limitations mean it might not suit every business.

Great free accounting for small business

Pros

Wave Accounting's basic features are free and it's really easy thanks to a clean, simple interface. The double-entry bookkeeping feels reliable and it keeps track of my income and expenses without much fuss. It also connects with other services for payroll, invoicing and payments which makes my workflow smoother. From within the app I can pull together financial reports that help me make better decisions. On top of that, it handles transactions in multiple currencies and keeps my financial records and customer details stored securely. When I am away from my desk I can manage my finances on the go using the mobile app which I appreciate.

Cons

I have run into a number of limitations using Wave Accounting. For starters the more advanced capabilities aren't free, I have to pay to unlock them. Support is limited to email only which gets frustrating when I need help right away. Also, I have noticed that transaction processing sometimes takes longer than I expect compared with other online accounting tools I have used. The software doesn't provide a multi-currency chart of accounts which is a real pain if I need to manage books across different currencies. Automatic bank syncing can be unreliable for certain transaction types and that has caused mistakes in my accounts. If my team includes employees in several states or provinces, the payroll features feel restricted. Project management is another area where the functionality is thin, tracking projects closely becomes difficult. Even with all these issues, I still see Wave Accounting as a practical, budget-friendly online accounting option for small businesses like mine.

Simple and easy accounting

Pros

Simple and easy, it handles what's necessary without offering a maze of advanced features. That suits me perfectly because I don't require heavy-duty tools. I am genuinely happy with a clean, uncomplicated accounting app that's very easy to learn and use.

Cons

I'd have liked expenses labeled bills within Wave to let me record the payment at the same moment I enter the expense into the system.
