“Free and packed with features

Pros

I am really happy it's free and it comes packed with features, my bookkeeper is set up there handling my monthly financial reports and reconciliations, she enjoys working with it too although she keeps pointing out it's quite different from QuickBooks.

Cons

I wish there was a mobile app so I could pull up some of the reports on my phone when I am away from my computer.

Using Wave, I finally got my clients to respect invoice due dates and it saved me a huge amount of time.

Cons

Honestly I love everything about Wave, I only wish I'd found it sooner.

Pros

Creating and sending invoices is effortless with Wave Accounting and I also find that paying and managing bills is easy, I can easily produce tailored reports with this tool whenever I need them.

Cons

I haven't run into any downsides because Wave Accounting simplifies accounting and bookkeeping tasks so much so there aren't any negative points I am able to bring up.

Pros

The free version aside from transaction fees is great and I find Wave makes it simple to track the work I do for clients while offering very helpful reports I can pull at tax time.

Cons

I don't love the fees charged for Wave payments, they're a bit high but I do appreciate that there's no monthly charge to use the service.

One thing I really appreciate is being able to create invoices right on the site and even email them straight to clients. It saves me so much time compared to building one from scratch and I like that I can tweak each invoice for different projects with ease. Using it feels incredibly easy!!

Cons

I don't like that it constantly nags me to connect my card or bank account so clients can pay directly through Wave. It prompts me every single time I try to download an invoice which is annoying because sometimes I just want to save or print the invoice without setting up payments.

This app has become part of my routine, I really appreciate how flexible it is across the mobile app and website. To me, that's definitely a big plus.

Cons

I don't really have issues but I'd love a feature that lets my clients electronically sign PDF documents directly.

As a small business owner, I have found the most useful and easy features are the income and expense tracking, complete with receipt attachments, along with customizable invoices and the option to store vendor/contractor contact details and payment records. I also appreciate the customizable reporting tools like profit-and-loss statements and customer statements which make financial review easier. The greatest bonus is that these core functions are entirely free and the app feels very well built. To me it's more streamlined and simpler than QuickBooks.

At first it wasn't totally obvious how to begin using the free features so I had to do some poking around and a bit of trial-and-error to figure out how to make it work best for my business. After experimenting, I discovered the workflows that fit our needs but new users should expect a short learning curve.

Way back when I first started using this program years ago, I could tell Wave has kept getting better over time. I really like it, it was my very first bookkeeping tool and it made a big difference in helping me keep everything organized.

Back then some features were a bit hard to figure out, maybe that was because I was using bookkeeping software for the first time. Occasionally I found the functions confusing until I learned the ropes though this was years ago and I know it's improved.

Pros

Creating invoices for my clients is incredibly easy and I really appreciate how quickly I can get one out the door. After I send an invoice, that client is automatically added to my client list so I can simply click their entry and issue follow-up or additional invoices without any hassle.

Cons

I am frustrated that the company isn't upfront about the bank and credit-card charges, they need to be clearer about those costs. As a freelancer, it really bothers me that a portion of what I earn is taken out automatically simply because a client chose to pay by credit card and that should be spelled out.

I really appreciate how user-friendly and customizable it is, I find it especially useful for small businesses because it's convenient and adaptable to our needs.

Cons

the biggest drawback is that I cannot properly add job-specific costs the way I need to, nor can I generate detailed job costing reports the way my workflow requires.

It is fairly easy to set up, very user-friendly and it offers a clean, user-friendly interface.

Cons

When I needed help, getting past the automated assistant to even file a support ticket was a struggle and then I ended up waiting more than two days to hear back. Because the response was so delayed, my first reply arrived on the third day, I missed my payroll deadline and ended up paying my employee late since I couldn't get the payroll problem fixed quickly.

I really appreciated how easy Wave is to use. Seriously someone with zero experience could pick it up quickly. What I will say is that its feature set is fairly limited and doesn't extend much beyond basics. For anyone comfortable handling their own bookkeeping though, it's a great choice because the interface is so user-friendly and easy to follow.

Cons

There really weren't many downsides to Wave in my experience. It's very much a case of getting what you pay for, basic, no-frills functionality. If I needed more advanced features, multi-user access or to build out a team workflow, I'd probably move on to something like QuickBooks or Xero that supports those needs.

I found setting up invoices easy, the emailed bills look professional, customers have several payment choices and overdue invoice reminders are sent automatically to clients.

Cons

I'd appreciate automated messages being available when I send invoices.
