The customer support is really great

Pros

Setting up was really simple and easy to grasp. Whenever we encountered issues, the customer support team was always available to resolve them. Since implementing ArangoDB, its usage among our developers has increased and its extensive features have made integration very smooth.

Cons

I dont have any major dislikes but accessing the data wasn't always as simple as I would have liked.

ArangoDB offers solid support for schema-less design tasks

Pros

The integration between the flexibility of a schema less design and the adaptability of a graph database is outstanding. I also appreciate the ability to write JSON first queries using AQL. The platform comes with a built in full text search engine that is simple to use.

Cons

While it seems necessary for performance reasons, the management and operations on collections and databases using AQL are somewhat limited. More capabilities in this area would open up more possibilities.

Completed a Graph RAG using ArangoDB and its great

Pros

ArangoDB was recommended to me by my senior as an open source solution that offers a robust platform for graph databases. It's incredibly user-friendly and I was able to easily create vertices, visualize them in a local container and define and connect edges, which saved a lot of time during the initial POC with graph RAG.

Cons

The documentation for the database could be improved, particularly by having a dedicated section on the website for detailed documentation. I found myself jumping between websites trying to find what I needed for my use case. Other than that it was quite good.

Using ArangoDB for managing metadata is great

Pros

It's such an easy to use software and in my opinion, it's far superior to Mongo. Treating edges as collections was a brilliant idea allowing for both graph and document database functionality at once.

Cons

There's nothing to mention at this point. Maybe it's not fully compatible with Gremlin yet?

It delivers a comprehensive managed graph database solution

Pros

We recently moved from a self-hosted version of ArangoDB to ArangoDB Graph (their managed service) and the process has been smooth and efficient. The ArangoDB team was supportive during the migration offering clear guidance and prompt responses to ensure the transition went smoothly. ArangoDB provides everything you'd expect from a graph database system, along with additional functionality, including a unified query language that can handle both graph and relational style queries.

Cons

Due to the unified query language there's some degree of lock in. However this is typical of all database systems when using anything beyond the most basic features.

A positive experience overall

Pros

I really value that ArangoDB is open source and can integrate seamlessly with other tools.

Cons

For me the graphical aspect doesn't seem to be prioritized.

Its still to be explored

Pros

It's very easy to understand. The tutorials are excellent enabling quick access to the power of graph databases.

Cons

Since I'm just starting out I really don't have any specific "dislikes" yet.

A flexible and user-friendly multi-model database

Pros

The web interface is especially impressive, offering a simple dashboard that makes database management simple, even for those new to NoSQL systems. The AQL query language is simple, particularly for those familiar with SQL and the documentation is thorough and well organized.

Cons

I think the only downside is that once you start using it, it's hard to stop- goodbye Airtables!
