“Sharp analysis made crystal clear”
Pros
One thing I really enjoy about this platform is how effortlessly it lets me convert and analyze data in a clear, effective and visually appealing way.
Cons
The only downside for me is probably the most recent update to the platform.

“Genuinely flexible interactive dashboards”
Pros
What I like most about Tableau is how it can build almost any kind of dashboard making data analysis very interactive and easy. Also it gives employees the freedom not just to explore data through existing dashboards but to work with their tech team and build their own. That opens up more ways to view, analyze and report on the data.
Cons
Because I work with a fairly large volume of data, it does lag a little at times and the loading speed can be slow. From my perspective, that is really the only drawback.

“A top-tier visualization ecosystem”
Pros
Tableau ranks among the top tools for data visualization. It lets you build highly detailed and customized visuals exactly the way you want and you can also do calculations on the data while creating those charts. It's an excellent platform for data analysts as well as the broader business community.
Cons
One frustrating part of creating visuals is that it automatically decides which chart types fit your data. For example, it won't let you make a line chart unless your dataset includes dates and that can get pretty annoying.

“Crisp dashboards with premium features”
Pros
It packs a lot of functionality into one place. Every time I use it, I genuinely enjoy the experience, my work seems more manageable and the dashboards I create come out looking professional.
Cons
The desktop version does come at a price and it's pretty expensive. I'd mainly recommend it for companies rather than individual users, unless the personal cost isn't an issue for you.

“Filter quickly and report flexibly”
Pros
What I really enjoy about Tableau is how quickly you can adjust, update and filter reports to create exactly the visualizations you need. We rely on it a lot for reporting and daily metrics at our office.
Cons
This may be specific to our setup but we haven't been able to customize the look of our report visuals. From our side, options like changing font style, font size and colors don't seem to be available and it would be helpful if that level of customization were included.

“Always-current dashboards for dynamic teams”
Pros
Real-time data and dashboards are a big plus here and it also works really well for collaboration since the whole team can access whatever is being built together. The role-based permissions are especially useful because they make it possible for both managers and employees to work within the same system while still keeping access appropriate.
Cons
One thing missing from the product is data modeling functionality and it would be even better if that were included.

“Research-grade visuals for academics”
Pros
Compared with many other tools, the visualizations in Tableau are on another level. The platform seems user friendly and easy to use and its analytics are clear and genuinely helpful when exploring data. Altogether it gives researchers and students a very professional look in the presentations and publications they create.
Cons
The only downside is the price. If students have to pay for this tool, it can feel like a significant investment still once you start using it, it does feel worth it.

“Unlimited custom dashboard possibilities”
Pros
One of the best parts is that it works with Python which makes customized visualizations possible. If you know Python, you can build your own dashboards and create visuals tailored to exactly what you need.

“Explore data through interactive views”
Pros
Tableau is really strong for data visualization and the dashboards are highly interactive which makes it very useful for day to day user work.

“Reports that grab and hold attention”
Pros
Switching to Tableau has completely changed how we read reports. It looks visually appealing, the dashboards are clear and the filter and search tools make it much easier to find exactly the information you need. Compared with working through a spreadsheet, the experience is far more interactive and customizable which has made a huge difference for us.
Cons
Because it was such a big shift from our old way of doing things, we did need a few walkthroughs and some guidance at the start to learn the platform. That said it's not really a downside since it has still worked extremely well for us.

“Creative freedom within every dashboard”
Pros
Tableau offers dynamic, varied and visually engaging dashboard-building capabilities. It gives you a lot of creative flexibility and there's so much you can do with it to build interesting and nuanced visualizations.
Cons
It does come with some limitations. There isn't a built-in donut chart option so you have to fake it by layering pie charts. Resizing elements can feel pretty complex, the program can crash at times and the price can be quite high.

“Dynamic visuals that evolve with you”
Pros
Using it is very easy thanks to how user friendly it is and I really appreciate the dynamic workflow, the attractive visual design and the ability to refresh data in real time.

“Versatile graphics for any dataset”
Pros
One thing that really stands out is the growing number of ways to visualize data which gives us much better insight and helps us look at the same information from different angles.
Cons
It doesn't come native to any particular data platform which is both an advantage and a drawback. Tools like Adobe Analytics with AEM or Google Analytics with Google Data Studio tend to offer a more connected experience and I cannot really say it works that way.

“Plenty of charts and helpful guides”
Pros
It is easy to use and learn. Whether a project is simple or complex, it turns data into clear, useful charts. The web blog and public catalog are also packed with helpful tips, examples, answers and fixes. Those resources have been incredibly valuable many times.
Cons
One frustrating part is that I sometimes end up with results that don't match the values I was expecting. Figuring out why it arrived at those numbers or errors can be difficult and debugging it can take quite a bit of time.

“Popular dashboards with welcoming design”
Pros
Tableau has been a favorite for me because so many businesses rely on it for analytics and the dashboard feature is especially appealing thanks to its user friendly interface.

“Massive customization headroom available”
Pros
There was a huge amount of flexibility in the customization especially if you had the time and resources to really invest in it.
Cons
Getting people to actually adopt it was a challenge because it did not feel as user friendly as some competing tools. Even visualizations that looked fairly simple ended up taking more effort to build so a lot of time went into figuring out basic settings that could have been better used on other work.
