“Data that gives you real insights”
Pros
Right away I was genuinely impressed by how effortlessly this software turns data into meaningful, useful insights. It made understanding the information feel very natural and accessible.
Cons
At times, it does seem like the platform can become a little unwieldy so I'd definitely want someone with experience to guide me through it properly.

“Good data views with integration”
Pros
Working with Tableau has been a big step up for me especially coming from heavy use of Excel pivot tables. It integrates really well with different data sources and the interface gives you plenty of ways to look at your data from multiple angles and levels of detail. Compared to what I was used to before, Tableau really takes data visualization to another level.
Cons
There are a lot of features and options so it can feel a bit overwhelming at times. That said, the hover-over explanations are very helpful and make it much easier to figure things out.

“See team productivity at a glance”
Pros
Every day, I rely on Tableau to monitor my team's productivity and compare historical trends against this year's performance. When it comes to performance tracking and data analysis, it gives you the flexibility to build reports on just about anything.
Cons
As more users get added, report downloads tend to slow down. There are times when pulling reports takes longer than it should which gets frustrating when you need to access data quickly.

“Custom dashboards that work well”
Pros
Once we brought Tableau in to measure how efficiently we were digitizing thousands of media files every hour, it became much easier to spot issues in the process. The customized dashboards gave us a clear way to visualize the workflow and focus on the areas that needed attention.
Cons
One limitation with it is that it does not offer much functionality for manipulating data through calculations or custom formulas.

“Filters that actually help you find things”
Pros
Using Tableau every week has been really helpful especially because of the point-and-click filtering. I don't build the reports myself but as a regular user, I really appreciate how selecting one filter updates the rest of the report and makes the data much easier to work through.
Cons
There are times when choosing a filter takes a while to load which can be frustrating. Aside from that it is an excellent analytics tool.

“Prep and analyze data easily”
Pros
One thing that really helps with Tableau is how simple it is to clean up and reorganize data. Doing that work in a database or in Excel can take forever but Tableau lets me bring the data in, tidy it up and get it ready for analysis much faster.
Cons
The biggest downside is the time it takes on the initial load or when updating a large volume of data. It can be pretty slow at that stage but once everything finishes loading properly, it works well from there.

“All insights in one place”
Pros
Tableau has been one of the strongest tools in my workflow. It consistently helps me pull the exact insights I need from very large datasets. I also appreciate that it works as an all-in-one platform since I can clean the data organize it, analyze it and build visualizations without needing to switch to another tool.
Cons
Up to this point I haven't run into any real problems with the product because I am using the free version through a student email account. That said a lot of people I know who were comparing visualization tools decided not to go with it because the per-user pricing is considered too expensive.

“Hard to set up and uses too many resources”

Getting it up and running was difficult, it took a lot of resources and it wasn't cloud-ready enough to fit our needs or those of our clients.

“Dashboards built for analytics work”
Pros
It has been a highly effective tool for data visualization and business analytics. Its wide range of features makes it really useful for building impactful dashboards, presenting data clearly and publishing insights that help track business changes in depth.
Cons

“Dashboards with good connectivity”
Pros
Tableau is one of the strongest tools out there for data visualization. It has definitely helped us make data-driven decisions much faster. It also makes it easier to tackle more complex problems and discover new insights from data more often. One of the biggest advantages is how many different data sources it can connect to which lets us bring together information from multiple places and visualize everything in one view. On top of that we can embed those visuals into our applications in different formats. Overall, it's a very useful platform.
Cons
That said it does take some effort to learn once you start using it in depth. The performance also needs improvement especially so it can run better on lower-configuration machines. I also couldn't find a feature to make data changes directly at the software level. Also it is not suitable for creating flowcharts or process flows either. Another limitation is that the mobile tool only works with server products so these are areas that still need to be improved.

“Nice visuals with strong analytics”
Pros
It is fantastic for data analysis and visualization. The interface looks professional and it comes with a lot of really useful features that make working with data much better.
Cons
One downside is the cost since it is fairly expensive and only Tableau Public is available for free. Exporting data to other platforms can also be difficult.

“Broad connectivity with strong dashboards”
Pros
One of the best parts of using Tableau is the community support as almost every question I have had was already answered somewhere. It integrates to just about any data source from a basic spreadsheet to modern databases like Snowflake, AWS Redshift, PostgreSQL and MySQL. You can also work from custom queries or joins across multiple tables which gives a lot of flexibility to prepare and calculate the needed data upfront so building worksheets becomes simpler later. It also comes with a wide range of functions and operators for data processing, plus lots of visualization choices from simple tables to more advanced charts and histograms. It supports both live connections and scheduled refreshes through extracted data sources which can help dashboard performance. Filtering is also strong, with plenty of ways to drill down, slice and dice data and apply column-level sorting. Dashboards are built from worksheets and creating those is fairly easy because so much of the interface relies on drag and drop. On top of that Tableau Server keeps different dashboard versions which helps a lot with version control.
Cons
There are still a few weak spots. Tableau Desktop can get noticeably slow when working with large datasets especially while dragging and dropping KPIs or moving between worksheets and that can slow down development quite a bit. A practical workaround is to use a smaller dataset while building. When using an extracted data source, publishing to the server and importing back into Desktop can also be very slow because it transfers both the extracted data and the Tableau logic together. Editing table column aliases is not very flexible and feels unnecessarily tricky. Filter dropdown values are hard-coded strings and it would be much better if they could be driven by dimensions or values, along with support for chained filtering. Also some functions such as TP90 and Average require the dataset to be extracted and will not work with live data.

“Covers all your analytics needs”
Pros
When building a custom analytics service isn't something your company wants to take on, Tableau is a really strong option. It covers most of the data analytics capabilities you'd expect from other platforms so you can get a lot of value without developing everything yourself.
Cons
From a security, privacy and confidentiality standpoint, it may not be the most suitable choice for government use.

“Interactive dashboards for stakeholder stories”
Pros
Once the data is loaded and aligned with the rules-based setup, the interface is very interactive and easy to work with. The way data can be labeled also makes it simple to build a clear story and share it with internal stakeholders.
Cons
Its flexibility is limited when working across data from different source systems so the modeling options are not very diverse. The platform can also run slowly at times and it doesn't offer much in terms of plugins or API connections to other systems.

“Good analytics at a fair price”
Pros
One thing I really love about Tableau is how detailed the graphs are for a specific analytics dataset. It's also very user friendly. I used it in a previous job and the pricing felt very reasonable for what it offers.
Cons
Honestly I cannot point to anything negative. It really feels like it's on track to become the go-to platform for analytics in the near future.

Pros
Tableau has been incredibly useful for building diagrams and digging into data analysis. Importing data is very easy and setting up the attributes is simple too.

“Drag and drop to analyze easily”
Pros
Plenty of data analysis tools expect you to know languages like Python or R but Tableau lets you work through it with a drag and drop approach instead of programming. That makes analyzing data much more accessible without needing coding skills.
Cons
The cost is definitely on the high side. Also if you rely on the free version, your data becomes public which can be a serious drawback. And once the analysis gets more complex, using programming can be more practical than trying to handle everything with its built-in tools.
