“Clear visuals with better insights”
Pros
Turning data into visuals with Tableau is fairly easy. It presents information through clear charts, graphs and other visuals that make everything much easier to understand and help you gain better insight.
Cons
There is still a bit of a learning curve with it and it takes some time and practice before you really become proficient with it.

“Great visuals using Tableau”
Pros
Tableau has been a really strong fit for our company. We're very happy with it especially with the visualizations we're able to create. As we keep learning more about the platform, we're continuously improving and upgrading our dashboards and visuals. There's a lot you can do with Tableau which gives us plenty of room to keep growing.
Cons
Getting everything implemented took quite a while. The data modeling and table joins can also be a bit confusing and they're harder to understand than what we were used to with some of our previous SAP-based solutions.

“Helpful guidance !!”
Pros
Turning complicated data into something a broad audience can actually understand is where Tableau really shines. The built-in features are easy to work through and the how-to articles and support links are incredibly helpful.
Cons
One challenge we've run into with it is the steep learning curve that comes with having access to data fields we didn't use before. Since our team can now build more of our own reports instead of relying on the advancement team, there have been quite a few mix-ups around basic database practices and etiquette, like naming conventions. That really isn't its fault but the number of options and overall complexity has still frustrated some users.

“Strong dashboards for business”
Pros
One of the best things about Tableau is how it turns business data into visualizations that update automatically which saves a lot of time. It also comes with plenty of features for customizing even basic charts so you can tailor dashboards and reports the way you want.
Cons
The biggest downside is the price since it can be quite expensive. It also has a learning curve for beginners and it feels much more suited to data scientists or people who already have a strong background in working with data.

“Polished dashboards that look great”
Pros
The visualizations have a consistent, professional look and once you spend a little time with it, the software is fairly easy to use.
Cons
A few feature limitations get in the way of basic tasks especially around formatting and sometimes you have to rely on complicated workarounds to make things happen.

“Drag and drop to analyze easily”
Pros
Tableau is very approachable to use and you can get a lot done without needing to know SQL which also makes it easier to find people who are qualified to work with it. It feels far more drag and drop friendly than Excel and even things like box-and-whisker plots can be added to a scatterplot with a single click instead of going through a very tedious setup process in Excel. I also appreciate the flexibility of connecting to live data sources or using extracts since that makes it possible to work with different dataset types and still give end users real-time data whenever that's available.
Cons
One limitation is that it doesn't let you combine datasets from different source types very well, such as a manually maintained Excel file with something that's synced from a server. There's also a cap on how many fields you can add to a table before they start getting cut off. Another frustrating part is adjusting the size of individual sheets within a dashboard and getting them all aligned evenly can take way too long dragging borders around with the mouse.

“Strong dashboards with nice visuals”
Pros
It really shines when it comes to creating graphics. Its data visualization capabilities feel unmatched and I honestly don't know of another tool that competes at the same level here. Our team has gotten a lot of value from the interactive, visually appealing dashboards and we definitely plan to keep using it.
Cons
Getting comfortable with it has been more challenging than people online often make it sound. There's definitely a learning curve and I don't think it starts to feel easier until you build a good understanding of what the platform can and cannot do.

Turning large, complex datasets into clear visuals has been a real highlight. The drag‑and‑drop functionality makes building charts simple and genuinely impressive.

“Fast visuals with strong performance”
Pros
Right from the start Tableau has been very user friendly while still producing really strong data visualizations. Since switching to it, I have been able to cut my visualization time in half compared with when I was using RStudio.
Cons
Once my visualization work started requiring more depth, I noticed there was much less information available online to help with those more advanced needs.

“Great for financial summaries”
Pros
Using this tool every day has made displaying and updating data really simple. I rely on it regularly to pull together the data I need for my financial summaries.
Cons
I'd still like to see more options for displaying different data sets, like sorting them alphabetically or something similar. If that feature already exists, it's not very obvious to me.

“Useful insights from day one”
Pros
Tableau has really helped our company build a process for using relevant data to support important decisions. The learning curve is pretty gentle so even business users with little or no background in complex data analysis can start using it right away and generate useful insights from day one. Another big advantage is how simple it is to roll out. You can buy it as a subscription or with a lifetime license and then choose to host it either in the cloud or on a local server.
Cons
There are not many downsides to mention but the cost is definitely one of them. It provides far more features and resources than its main competitor, yet the price can be as much as six times higher which makes it a lot less appealing for small and mid-sized companies.

“Strong analytics with good integration”
Pros
this platform has been really useful for a wide range of tasks from data analysis and report creation to visualizing information in clear graphical formats. One thing that makes it especially valuable is its support for many different data sources and file types. It also integrates very well with other applications which makes the software even more versatile and practical to use.
Cons
Honestly I am satisfied with most of the features and don't have any particular dislikes to point out.

“Hard to learn with a complex server”
Pros
It does offer good reporting and dashboard features when you're working with your own database.
Cons
Using the software has been frustrating for several reasons. The learning curve is quite steep especially compared to Power BI which feels much more approachable. There's also no support for building custom charts with Python or R which is a real limitation. Performance is slow, Tableau Server seems confusing and the reports aren't very dynamic since you have to keep refreshing from the source. On top of that the formulas are unnecessarily complicated, making even simple calculations harder than they should be. The desktop interface also isn't very user friendly, particularly when it comes to drag and drop. On the staff side, the sales team came across like pushy car salespeople and were misleading at the beginning, then brought up last-minute minimum requirements for embedded use. Support during the trial was also very limited so we were left to solve a lot of problems on our own.

“Easy-to-understand dashboards clients love”
Pros
After recently switching to Tableau for our clients, we've been able to pull engagement and program usage stats much more effectively. I am really happy we made the move because everyone has been pleased with how clear, digestible and user friendly the reports are.
Cons
Back in college, I remember the back-end side of the software being a little confusing. That said, I don't have to work on that part anymore so it's not really an issue for me now.

“Great visuals on a budget”
Pros
I use it to turn our budget spending and overall performance into visuals and that makes a big difference when putting presentations together. Nobody really wants to sit through a slide full of raw numbers so it helps present the information in a much more engaging way.
Cons
It definitely takes time to learn if you've never worked with it before. Even after using it for a year, I still haven't figured out every feature. I'd strongly recommend taking one of their training classes to get more out of it.

“Share easily with great visuals”
Pros
Tableau lets us bring in large volumes of data and turn them into visualizations quickly. It's also simple to share with the rest of the team and publish charts for others to access.
Cons
Even though it's pretty user friendly overall, one limitation is that it doesn't offer as much customization as I'd like.

“liked the reporting interface”
Pros
It has been one of the best reporting tools I have worked with. The interface is very user friendly, giving the right management teams quick access to different queries and reports can be pulled and analyzed without much hassle.
Cons
At times, there are back-end issues when access to a query is being granted which can cause problems with running the queries and slow down the overall process.

“good for data visualization”
Pros
When it comes to turning data into graphs or tables, this software does an excellent job. It's one of the best options for visualizing data and being able to integrate BigQuery with Tableau adds even more value.
Cons
