The upgrade to the CHAMPS version was executed without issue, even with customization.

Pros

The software has always been valuable for our preventative maintenance program. The customized mobile interface increased the efficiency of PM operations, which was a key reason for upgrading to the latest version. The CHAMPS sales and development teams were very accommodating in helping achieve a successful deployment.

Cons

A small component called the Spooler is required to operate outside the core server. In future versions, it would be great if the Spooler could function autonomously within the core server, reducing the need for additional Windows system licenses.

O&M Contract COR

Pros

Simple in terms of data entry and retrieval, but powerful enough to produce complex usage information to aid in determining O&M needs.

Cons

I wish the software were more compatible with other scheduling software, though I understand the challenges with proprietary software.

Excellent Value

Pros

Extremely robust with a clean and smooth layout, making this program essential for businesses looking to find the missing data to make more informed decisions.

Cons

The vast array of features can be overwhelming for those not comfortable with computers. Transitioning from MP2 to Champs was initially shocking due to the significant differences between the programs.

CHAMPS

Pros

Simple and similar to MP2 and other older databases. The inventory system is functional. Adding characters to complete the field.

Cons

There is no visibility of the asset system or schedule. Everything is difficult to use because it's outdated and hasn't kept up with current standards.

Williams College Upgrade

Pros

I find the software intuitive - CHAMPS provides thorough and immediate support - truly excellent.

Cons

I think we should have more leeway in making changes at the user level. Maybe we already do, and I just need to learn more?

Champs my preferred Maintenace Tracking System

Pros

Having used Champs for 15 years and administered it for the last 4, I find it the best way to track our maintenance issues and corrective actions. With my mechanical background, I appreciate the database's ability to track failures, helping me trend machinery to prevent future issues. Our company uses only the maintenance module, though Champs offers much more.

Cons

I find that new hires who aren't computer literate struggle initially to grasp the hierarchy. The system is quite straightforward if you avoid overthinking it.

Appvion Champs Review

Pros

The software is easy to use, but there's always room for improvement. It's simple to learn the basics. Champs has been a good vendor, and we've developed a personal relationship due to their smaller size.

Cons

New updates and releases incorporate feedback from all customers, but they often prioritize the larger clients. This sometimes makes the new features more complex than smaller clients want or need.

Champs Client and User Since 1999

Pros

The Champs program is solid, and the support is very personal. Champs is attuned to the CMMS market and continuously innovates.

Cons

Knowing the CMMS market and history, there's nothing we dislike about the product or vendor.

Good & Cost Effective CMMS

Pros

I find the way procurement, inventory, and maintenance management are seamlessly integrated in this suite quite impressive. When utilized effectively, the software supports transitioning to a paperless operation. It's clear that this system offers a practical and economical solution.

Cons

There's an issue with processing serialized parts, including returning, reissuing, and correctly tracking them.

In charge of Preventive Maintenance (PM) of all Mobile Equipment.

Pros

It's relatively easy to use and offers several maintenance-related options (modules). The GUI and versatility are notable.

Cons

There's a lack of built-in engineering or performance measurement tools, like FMEA, FMECA, Weibull Distribution, RCA, MTBF, MTTR, MTBPM, etc. Measurement is crucial for assessing performance. Also, some global updates may not align with our needs, lacking customizable options. There's also a lack of a user forum for CHAMPS users.

Use CHAMPS from a manager point of view for plant maintenance.

Pros

The vendor is very supportive and customer-focused. There are areas in CHAMPS ver. 11 that could be improved, and as I understand it, ver. 12 has addressed most of them. We will be upgrading to ver. 12 soon.

Cons

I'd like the ability to create ad-hoc reports. The search feature could be more straightforward.

Williams College experience

Pros

I particularly like CHAMPS because it can handle many different aspects of a business, such as work orders, purchasing, payroll, accounts payable, inventory, scheduling, and lock-out tag-out. If a part of the system doesn't fully meet your company's needs, the great employees at CHAMPS can tweak it to suit your requirements.

Cons

I'd like to see more pre-built reports in the software.

CHAMPS Maintenance Management System

Pros

Its ability to provide real-time cost tracking (labor and material) and to automate maintenance alerts for critical equipment is excellent. Regarding the vendor, they make a concerted effort to bring users together annually at a user's conference to share and learn from different experiences.

Cons

My main dislike, although not necessarily the vendor's fault, relates to the Bill of Materials (BOM) per asset. When an asset reaches its retirement age, you need to identify all related parts for disposal to avoid unnecessarily increasing inventory. This should be addressed during the setup stage.

User-friendly, easy to use

Pros

Champs is very easy to navigate, and as an administrator, I do not receive many help-desk calls. Champs has always been quick to respond to any questions or modifications we've requested.

Cons

I think CHAMPS will be a better system once they roll out and implement the web-based version and resolve all the bugs.

Review of CHAMPS Software

Pros

Navigating from place to place is intuitive.

Cons

Some data in one field is in a numerical format, while the same data in another table is text. Some report writing tools can handle this, but Microsoft Access cannot, which limits many simple reports from accessing the data.
