“Reliable mail delivery”

Pros

Getting started is quick since it's free, works immediately and comes with a web interface you can access online without much hassle. Email delivery has been dependable and the basic spam filtering does its job well.

Cons

At first, the web interface can be a bit confusing to figure out. Setting it up on a phone or desktop client like Outlook is also tiring because there's no automatic configuration. You have to manually enter the SMTP server details which tends to cause problems for a lot of users. It also lacks multi-factor authentication which is a security downside.

“works so well”

Pros

It was pretty simple to get this connected and forwarding messages to another email client was simple to configure. In the webmail client, the signature settings were a nice touch and having multiple identities available was really useful. It's also been nice using a custom domain email address that ties in with my website account.

Cons

Initially, I forwarded everything to my Gmail account and that worked really well until I noticed my DreamHost plan had a storage limit which meant I still had to monitor that account too. After that, I turned off forwarding and switched over to the webmail client instead but it feels dated and takes a long time to load or search through folders. That said, I did appreciate working directly with the original emails rather than forwarded copies. I recently configured IMAP with Apple Mail and I think that setup will work much better for me.

“Strong spam filtering”

Pros

Using it has been very simple. The menu is simple to navigate, the spam filtering works really well and there are plenty of options available when composing emails.

Cons

Honestly I haven't run into any downsides. I've been using it for 6 years and it's the only email service our business relies on.

“quick setup for business email”

Pros

Getting DreamHost Email up and running was simple especially when creating forward-only addresses and it makes my business look more legitimate.

Cons

Even with the spam filter turned on, I've still been receiving a lot of spam emails.

“Custom emails are good”

Pros

To have the option to create a custom-domain email with it has been really useful. I set one up to get a personalized address for a specific project I'm working on and it has worked out really well for that purpose.

Cons

The interface is pretty basic and the functionality feels basic too. I'm assuming future updates may add more features because right now it offers far fewer options than platforms like Outlook or Google.

“flexible pricing”

Pros

So the unlimited email account creation combined with competitive pricing is a big plus. The new webmail interface feels modern and in some situations we've even been able to use it instead of a desktop email client.

Cons

Over the past month, we ran into a few outages related to maintenance on the outgoing mail server. Administrators weren't notified about it so we ended up spending extra time checking our own systems before realizing the issue was on their side.

“custom email with free domain”

Pros

Setting up a custom business email in this tool is really simple and I also appreciate that it's included with your domain at no additional cost.

Cons

What I've noticed is that the forwarding feature doesn't work perfectly all the time. But overall it's a great tool, gets full marks!

“Quick support!”

Pros

It's very simple to set it up and using it day to day has been simple as well. I've been on DreamHost Email for more than 10 years and outages have been extremely rare, I can count the number of times on one hand. Their customer support is excellent too and whenever something comes up, they handle it quickly and efficiently.

Cons

An inconvenience has been DreamHost changing servers multiple times recently which has forced me to rush and update the settings in my mail apps.
