“I like this tool
Pros
What I really love about this software is how it lets you design a great experience for your clients. It's packed with features and since it's still new, it keeps growing and improving.
Cons
There are definitely some features I would love to see added like the ability to store client photos and more flexibility with POS systems. I also really don't like how you have to cancel appointments, it feels clunky and inconvenient.

“Great for busy salons
Pros
The customer service has been outstanding. The support team is super patient and always helps me work through any issue or confusion. I never have to wait long to get help or answers.
Cons
The permissions and security settings are important but they sometimes make simple tasks take longer than they should.

“Not a pleasant experience

We felt like it was the best fit for our industry and that is what made us choose it.
Cons
We used this product during the first few months after opening our business and it was rough. We ran into so many problems and support was seriously lacking. Clients were getting appointment confirmations with the wrong dates and they would show up with no one available for them. Our pricing and info kept randomly changing and we had to keep going back in to fix it all. It caused a ton of issues and cost us more money than we could afford as a small business. Eventually, the company president called to apologize, saying there was some glitch in just our program. We lost clients and revenue and while we hoped they would refund us or cover some of the damages, they did not. We are now stuck in contracts with partner companies that are going to cost us thousands over the next few years. I am really disappointed STX didn't take more responsibility for what happened.

“Has its ups and downs
Pros
We are currently using the desktop version of STX. At first, we were not happy for a few solid reasons but after someone reached out and listened to our concerns, things started to improve. I'll admit, the desktop version is easy to use and works well for those of us who are a little more �old school� and I liked not having to deal with a web-based system. Honestly the idea of switching to the cloud made me nervous. But after doing more research, I am actually excited to try the new web-based version and see what it can do.
Cons
The biggest issue for me has been how outdated it feels compared to newer options. It's slower than I would like and while I know the cloud version will be faster, it's frustrating waiting for that upgrade. I also had a hard time trusting it at first because of some early problems but thankfully that's been resolved. I am grateful to have a support team that really fights for their customers.

“It increased our salon's revenue
Pros
This program has some really powerful features and is super user-friendly. The reservation system is so simple like we just click and drag appointments. There is also an appointment builder that lets us search a time range and find the best spot. One of my favorite features is how it shows whether the time slot is ideal for the stylist. The reporting tools are great too, and easy to understand. The goal tracking and dashboard are also super useful for stylists to stay on track.
Cons
Some of the reports are just too hard to understand. And while there is a texting feature, it's pretty limited in what it can do.

“Sometimes frustrating

I have been using STX for over 10 years now. Overall it's been a great salon software system. It offers good reports, booking is simple and managing inventory is easy too.
Cons
Buying a gift card through our website that runs through STX is a mess. Clients have to register using this outdated, clunky registration page, wait for an email from STX and then go back to our site to finish the purchase. We have lost so many sales because people just give up. I have called STX several times over the years asking them to change the process so customers can register after the purchase instead of before. Most online stores now let you check out as a guest or sign in later, this should be a simple fix.

“Using it from 1990
Pros
Having worked with STX since around 1989 or 1990, I have developed a strong understanding of both the software and the company. It has a polished look, is simple to use and while it doesn't offer a ton of features, the ones it does have function really well.
Cons
If you are using STX, just know that switching to another platform means you will likely have to manually reenter most of your data since it does not transfer easily. After several discussions with their team, they have given plenty of reasons for the lack of updates but there's still no clear timeline for improvements. The software may look nice, but it feels outdated. The reporting system is rigid, cluttered and does not let you customize or focus on the metrics you actually need. Key features like tracking upsells, down sells or employee time off are missing. Their marketing tools are minimal with limited email types, barely any customization, no automated product replenishment reminders, no two-way texting and no branded mobile app ,making it hard to stay connected with clients. Even sending test emails is overly complicated. The mobile app lacks many essential features that competitors now offer. There's a long list of what this platform falls short on and honestly, it just doesn't keep up with modern salon software.

“It has been great so far
Pros
What's kept us with STX since 1993 is the consistency, great support and how easy it is to use. I didn't know much about computers back then but I knew I needed to automate our salon. The tech support has always been incredible!!! I remember spending long calls with Brenda! The software has never glitched or had virus issues. It's also been really easy to train new staff on. I still love STX and I have never been tempted to switch to anything else.
Cons
I would really like more reporting options and some of the features from Beacon but without losing the things I already love about STX.
