Pros

This feels like a full, complete software package rather than a single-purpose app. There's a huge range of functions and they all tie together in a way that makes the BIM workflow more coherent. The BIM tools are really well developed and thought through end to end and I also appreciate that there are solid learning resources online when you want to get up to speed.

Cons

Once projects get really large, performance and handling can start to struggle. A few functions aren't as accessible as you'd expect and sometimes it's not immediately clear why certain elements have disappeared from the model.

Most effective 3D CAD/BIM software available.

Cons

They keep changing the licensing model so it feels like you're effectively forced to buy the software again every few years. Upgrading isn't really an option but you also lose access to support. Yes, the annual updates and new features sound great yet the bigger need is cleaning up, consolidating and organizing features that often overlap or feel redundant. Because of that bloat, the learning curve is pretty intense and it can take years to truly master the program.

Pros

The BIM workflow feels incredibly well thought-out and stays useful from the early design stages all the way through the full building process.

Cons

Pricing was the sticking point for us. At more than what we wanted to spend per seat per month, costs climbed quickly as we added employees. It also didn't feel like the system was priced or structured to scale in step with our hiring pace.

Pros

Pretty easy to get the hang of even if you're just starting out. It feels accessible enough that you can begin working without spending forever figuring out where everything is.

Cons

The interface doesn't look especially inviting for brand-new users so newcomers may need a little time to feel comfortable with the layout and navigation.

The features feel pretty accessible and convenient to use day to day. Even on a not-so-powerful computer, the program still runs without too much trouble which makes it easier to keep working.

As I tried to learn the more advanced workflows, things started taking longer and performance dropped compared to other programs. It was also frustrating when some basic functions weren't available in the other software I was comparing against.

Pros

Creating 2D drawings works really well for drafting floor plans and site/layout plans. I was able to put together Grundrisse and Lageplane without too much hassle and the workflow for those parts feels pretty solid.

Cons

The 3D side is where things get complicated. Building 3D models feels relatively difficult and handling rounded shapes is almost impossible. Also, the whole setup seems geared toward designing a simple single-family house so more complex projects don't really fit the way the software is focused.

Pros

The workflow feels pretty accessible and it keeps adding new features that are actually useful. You can build your project directly into a 3D model as you work and the transition to 2D drawings is easy. Pulling the 2D output from the 3D model doesn't feel like a separate, complicated process.

Cons

It's a bit pricey and there's still some time investment required to get fully comfortable with it.

This software feels incredibly user-friendly and accessible, even if you're brand new to this kind of tool. It's the kind of setup where you can start working without needing a steep learning curve and everything just makes sense as you go.

For what I need (graphical work focused on rendering) I haven't come across any real drawbacks.

Unlike some other softwares, ARCHICAD is built specifically for architectural building drawings and it feels really fast when you're working on designs. The way it handles drawing tasks makes the whole process quicker compared to tools that aren't as focused on building plans.

That said it can get very slow or may not run at all on lower-power computers.

ArchiCAD is genuinely world-class software and it feels pretty easy to get the hang of. The customer support is also really strong which makes a big difference when you're working on real projects. Overall, it's a more modern way to do architecture compared to older workflows.

The only real downside is the cost, it's just too pricey. The pricing feels out of reach for solo practices that don't have the budget to afford it.

This software feels genuinely solid, mainly because the rendering looks really good. It also saves a lot of time since you don't have to manually draw the internal elements of a house from scratch.

One thing I noticed is that the dashboard layout in newer versions can be a bit distracting for people who are used to the older interface.

For engineers and architects alike, it is simple and straightforward to use because of the clean UI. It is ideally suited for medium-sized businesses. It is relatively easier to share files and have a prototype 3D visualization. Partners and other people who want to work with you will be easier to convince if you give more detailed presentations.

Cons

Limited functionality is available for the free versions. In essence, it is challenging to become proficient in all the features, and occasionally consulting an expert will be necessary.
