“Benchmark sets the benchmark in Estimating Software

Pros

Integrating this system into my business was a given since we needed something robust. Features like variable and production rates are fantastic. Managing and expanding the libraries is simple. Routines are an excellent tool for any business. The latest calculator is incredibly powerful. The project Comparator is a brilliant addition, allowing me to compare estimates from different design phases or check a market quote against my estimate.

Cons

When we first began using Benchmark, there were a few features available, but as promised, the development team has been able to enhance and expand them. While having it integrate with our accounting software would certainly be advantageous, it's not an absolute necessity for us.

Auto allocation, library management, shortcuts, and cloud access are quite handy.

Cons

The customer support is exceptionally poor, especially when dealing with bugs in their own software. Many of the processes seem overly complex and more convoluted than necessary. Since the software is cloud-based, accessing my own filesystem becomes quite difficult. The entire system feels like a black box where it's unclear how or why certain things are done, and some features are inexplicably locked. For instance, the Custom Reports feature is severely restricted, preventing me from exporting all the fields I require.

Pros

Out of the three versions available (Lite/Professional/Corporate), the Pro series was crucial for my needs. It supports the variety of businesses I run, which was a huge advantage. I must say the support from the Benchmark team was so helpful that I became much more confident in using the software in a short time. Kudos to them!

Cons

Navigating the interface can be quite challenging if you're not familiar with software of this kind, which was exactly my situation when I started using it.

I've been using Benchmark personally for nearly 12 years, having first encountered it through Nigel Watts at a previous organization when I was an Estimating Manager. The software's high functionality, authority matrix, and strong estimating capability have always been appealing to me. Benchmark was my first major investment when we started our own building business, and I consider it essential to our operations.
