For me as an estimator, the "Compare" feature in the document is crucial. It helps me capture all changes made by the design team, even if they "forget" to mention them in their write-up.

Cons

Adjusting the scale and fitting the drawing correctly when a consultant provides only minimal details instead of a full drawing can be a bit of a hassle.

Pros

With over 300 roofs to manage, this program allows me to track their status efficiently. Plus, my foremen can enter and update information remotely, giving the office a real-time update on our projects.

I didn't like that I couldn't run a report on all my projects, only on individual tasks. I also wanted to rename the work task to HOUSES. Plus, I don't like that you can't move the sidebar around. For example, the list includes Plans, Task, Photos, Form, Files, People, and you can't rearrange the order. Also, when submitting a photo, you have to either take a new one or use an existing upload. You can't select a photo from your phone's storage for immediate upload.

It simplifies communication between the office and the field, ensuring my crew always has the latest documents available.

It lacks a few features that I'm interested in, but they're supposedly coming in future updates.

Fieldwire lets me monitor field work progress across various construction projects with ease and report on field operations effectively. The project scheduling feature is fantastic as well.

It works very well on-site for accessing documentation. Uploading PDF files is very easy. I've used it to access drawing files with contractors and document punch list items. It's intuitive and has the tools needed for marking notes on drawings for later use in the office. I started using it on an iPad, and when it died, I accessed it through the cloud on my laptop, which is how I use it now.

Pros

As a structural building inspector, downloading plans from PDF into Dropbox is quick and efficient. The ability to comment and highlight on working drawings is what drew me to this app.

The only issue I've found is that when I write a comment on my report, the font size defaults to 16, which seems too small. I usually prefer size 30 for better readability.

It's simple and easy to use. Plans can be scrolled and zoomed in/out easily, marked up quickly, or scaled for distance estimates. Taking and viewing project pictures is also very easy.

Cons

Not being able to sort plan pages is quite inconvenient, especially for large projects. It can take hours to rename each page starting from 001 just to arrange them meaningfully. It's also tough for specific trades, like if someone only wants to see E sheets. Fieldwire also lacks a text search function, a basic feature in other software I've used. It seems like these essential features have been overlooked in favor of adding extra payment tiers.

Pros

I'm not very tech-savvy, but this software is accessible from any device and location very quickly. That's important to me. We work in a 50-floor tower with no signal in its core, but when the tablet gets a signal, everything done offline syncs immediately for everyone. This saves a lot of time and builds confidence.

It could benefit from user improvements, like making the menus more editable as seen in other software.

I can do my job from anywhere without carrying physical drawings. I can quickly find all site instructions and notes related to my projects.

The best feature of Fieldwire is the drawing management and the ease of access in the field. Tagging issues in the field is also seamless.

The most challenging part of Fieldwire is making handwritten notes or sketches on a plan with the drawing tool. It's very choppy. I usually create a PDF and import it into another software for drawing or note-taking, but I'd prefer to make handwritten notes directly in Fieldwire.

I haven't really had any issues. Maybe a small glitch occasionally, but it gets fixed quickly. It's a must-have for any job site, big or small.

It's challenging, or maybe I just don't know how, to use a picture someone else uploaded to Fieldwire and annotate it while working on my mobile. There's also no change order tab; I've tried creating one myself but don't have much time to work on it.

I love the reports and forms that can be created within Fieldwire. I also like how tasks and checklists can be added to our maps and plans. The app is very intuitive, making job site visits easier and allowing for quick turnaround times.

The mobile version is easy to use on site, and the duplicate project feature for using a "MASTER TEMPLATE" is excellent. We create the project and drop a plan in before heading to the site. As we walk through with the client, we drop pins to create tasks based on their desires. It's very efficient.

Cons

It would be quite advantageous if the documents were made a little more manageable and user-friendly. Improvements in this area could significantly enhance the overall experience and efficiency.
