Take the strain off your take off

Pros

Setting up and starting to use it was easy. The 3D model for visualizing workload is spot on, and the customer support is top-notch.

Cons

Like most software, there are times when some systems feel a bit awkward, but with each update, those issues get resolved, and ongoing support makes sure any problems are quickly addressed.

Kubla user

Pros

This software is really good with its range of cut and fill options. It's quite easy to use. I've been using it daily and find it very useful. There's room for improvement, but overall, it's already a great piece of software. Thanks!

Cons

The software doesn't allow me to handle both points with the same coordinates but different Z values simultaneously. I have to choose one or the other, which forces me to create two separate surfaces for the same X, Y points with different Z values. Additionally, I'm not a fan of the navigation. When zoomed in or out, I can't shift the model left or right; it seems stuck in the center of the screen. A navigation system similar to AutoCAD would be great.

Great Value for Price

Pros

I've used Kubla for a variety of tasks, from mining sites to cleaning up contaminated land. It's often been a lifesaver when deadlines are tight, and the automatic deliverables are exactly what I need for creating work plans and estimates.

Cons

The reporting could use some enhancements, but it already gets the job done.

Great Product for modelling and estimating

Pros

My experience with this software has been really positive. It's helped me create accurate drawings and models that are essential for my work.

Cons

I find this product can be a bit tricky to use at times. Initially, locating everything was not always simple, but after doing some research, I found the software to be fantastic.

Cut / Fill ease

Pros

I was previously using an "old-school" method for generating cut and fills, which was about 70% accurate but only got us close. With this software, I can achieve more precise results and produce a more professional cut and fill map for clients and field operations.

Cons

When zoomed in, it's tricky to move the screen. I can use the left and right arrow keys, but not the up and down ones, which is a bit inconvenient while entering contours. It would be nice to have an option to turn off colors and view only the line work while inputting data. Also, snapping to end points for better accuracy would be helpful. I'd like to generate a cut/fill amp showing specific points where cuts and fills are needed with estimated values.

Easiest Way to Present Earthworks Measure

Pros

I've been using this software for just a month, and I appreciate how it allows me to generate marked-up drawings and calculations that can be attached to support my measures.

Cons

One of the best features is generating quantities on the drawing that others can see during presentations. Creating sections is also easy.

Growing software that gets better with each update

Pros

I was a newbie learning how to estimate earthworks. This program has been incredibly helpful, not just for learning but also due to its functionality. Even the free version was useful for rough estimates. After subscribing, it changed the game for me. Other programs were either too expensive or unresponsive. Trimble offers a subscription, but I've been waiting three months for them to get in touch. I haven't needed any other program since Kubla Cubed has proven reliable and precise. It's the perfect tool for estimating earthworks, and they keep improving it with every update. I'm glad I found them four years ago.

Cons

Initially, it was quite basic compared to other programs, but they've quickly caught up. There might be an occasional bug, but customer service has always been extremely helpful in resolving them.

Great software for large earthwork companies

Pros

Kubla is great software, though it could use some fine-tuning. It's easy for quantity surveyors to use.

Cons

It crashes with large file sizes, which seems more like a hardware issue than a software one. I'd suggest adding a file downsizing tool.

Pros

This software is exceptional when it comes to handling earthworks. It delivers top-tier performance and functionality, making it a standout choice in its category. The features are highly advanced, and the accuracy it provides in earthwork calculations is unmatched. Whether you're managing large-scale excavation projects or intricate grading tasks, this software offers everything you need to achieve outstanding results. It's truly among the best in the field for anyone working in earthworks.

Cons

It's simple and easy to use compared to other software that requires numerous steps and data definitions before achieving results.

Outstanding software and support

Pros

The volumetric calculations and design contour plans are the most valuable features of this software.

Cons

There is not much to criticize. Maybe the 3D imaging could use a slight improvement, and having a feature to prepare sections would be beneficial.

From one professional to another...

Pros

Their customer service matches the program's excellence. I spoke with a representative about an issue accessing the program due to a broken laptop (thanks to my dog), and she was very polite and helpful. Within five minutes, I had my software key for my new computer and was up and running. Whether you're using the priciest program on the market or still doing take-offs with a digitizer and paper, I recommend giving these guys a shot. They're on track to become a major player in earthwork take-offs if they keep this up.

Cons

I don't dislike the program. It would be great to have the ability to quickly place elevation lines and input strata layers and material information. Since they regularly update the program, I'm sure these features will come soon. Once that happens, this will become my go-to software for earthwork, no doubt about it.

The best earthworks estimating software on the market

Pros

I tried several bulk excavation and cut and fill programs before finding this one, and it's the best I've encountered. My overall experience has been very positive, and I'd definitely recommend it.

Cons

New versions often come with bugs that need fixing, so more thorough testing before release would be useful.

Outstanding cut and fill software

Pros

It's easy to understand and use after a day or two of practice (much easier than my previous cut and fill software). It covers all necessary scenarios like roads, houses, retaining walls, etc. It gets regular updates, has good customer support, and is competitively priced.

Cons

There's very little negative to say except for some annoying glitches with new releases, but they are usually fixed quickly.
