“Electrical Estimating - Huge Time Saver
Pros
I love how everything is customizable. The template builds are easy and I can take off directly from the drawing. The auto count feature seems to be more accurate than any other software I have used.
Cons
At first, learning to search accurately in the library can be frustrating. However after using the software a few times and getting familiar with the database setup it becomes much easier.

“Good Estimating Software
Pros
When we started using McCormick, it integrated with Spectrum Construction Software which was a game changer for us.
Cons
Recently, it is been a bit difficult to get McCormick to interface with Spectrum Construction Software. Both Spectrum and McCormick have seen many improvements but we still use both and have since bought a third-party software to bridge the gap.

“Makes bidding easier and faster
Pros
I find the software easy to use which makes bidding faster and more efficient. It saves me time in the office which allows me to focus on other tasks.
Cons
Its very difficult to print a detailed price for change orders. I cannot delete items from a takeoff tab. I have to enter them as negatives. I wish there was a free site that integrated for tracking item costs.

“Great over all product
Pros
There are plenty of estimating software options that can get the job done and I have tried a few. They all tend to glitch with new updates. The major difference is in the tech support. When Windows updates and I am under pressure to get a proposal out, it is reassuring to know that any issues will be resolved promptly.
Cons
Besides the upfront cost, its fantastic. We started with the 3000 version and upgraded to the 6000 as we expanded.

“Great for new companies in the commercial sector. can get really expensive if wanted all features
Pros
The software includes numerous features especially if you opt for the full package. Estimating from a soft copy is effortless with the Design Pro integration.
Cons
The basic package is feature-packed and sufficient compared to other software but its much more expensive. I did recommend starting with a cost-efficient option and upgrading when you need more features.

“Productive
Pros
Since we started using DEP for our project takeoffs, we have significantly reduced the time spent on bids. This also allows us to pass the project details to our Project Managers so they can see how the bid was prepared.
Cons
I do not have many issues with McCormick but the search feature could use improvement. Adding notes to drawings is tricky because you can't point to what the note represents.

“Estimating Software
Pros
The support team at McCormick Systems did an excellent job explaining the software. They provided an online demonstration that made my decision to purchase easy. The product transitions smoothly from screen to screen and the support available late at night is exceptional.
Cons
Its a bit expensive but worth the investment. There is a learning curve but the customer support helps resolve these issues.

“This is an good tool to perform budget and to facilitate your work
Pros
The database includes up to date prices from major suppliers. This software is user-friendly which makes it accessible for beginner engineers to manage project budgets.
Cons
I think it could be priced lower. The software is geared towards beginner companies and the cost is not affordable.

“Horrible
Pros
Most features seem to require the premium package. Although they demonstrate how to use the product with the premium version, they often say certain features are not available in my version which feels like a bait and switch tactic.
Cons
We got the base package with minimal features. It does not work with 64-bit systems so you will need to downgrade your system, which disables many security features. Its frustrating to click on a feature only to see "not available in your version" messages. Additionally, it sometimes integrates with third-party programs like Traser, which only work intermittently and require workarounds. The lower tier version is almost unusable and ends up costing more in time and energy due to the need for tech support.
