“Simple to pick up
Pros
I'm really impressed by how simple this takeoff software is. After only a few weeks of regular use I already felt at ease using the whole program. In my experience the features are both powerful and surprisingly user-friendly to operate.
Cons
The minimalism can be limiting at times. I'd appreciate greater control over symbol sizes and a wider selection of shape options.

“alot of missing features
Pros
I find the platform easy to use when uploading drawings and it automatically names them for me. When it connects the details, the process works very efficiently.
Cons
We're missing a lot of features that we need to produce an accurate takeoff. On-site our crews use the takeoff as a quick reference for superintendents but Stack doesn't let us color-code piers by size and depth which is a big limitation. It also prevents us from specifying different column widths and heights. We depend on our takeoffs to cross-check the CY of concrete for estimating and quotes and with Stack it's hard to use and pull accurate CY numbers for all the concrete items we work on. Overall, the tool feels limited for the concrete scope we routinely perform and slows us down.

Sometimes I struggle to locate certain features or discover the keyboard shortcuts which can slow me down when I'm trying to work quickly.

“Clean interface
Pros
Its interface is very logical and with everything kept in the cloud, I don't have to stress about losing any of my takeoffs.
Cons
The price is steep, especially given that I only use the takeoff feature so it feels like I'm paying for more than I need.

“Convenient browsing
Pros
Once I'm inside the app, I find it simple to move around.
Cons
I assumed there would be a way to upload an Excel spreadsheet, though it's possible that feature exists and I simply haven't figured out how to use it yet.

“Budget-friendly option
Pros
For our company, this has proven to be a cost-effective option that fits our specific needs well.
Cons
The user interface is a bit clunky, although it's still manageable. Training and everyday use aren't overly difficult.

“Efficient cloud-based system
Pros
Cloud-based estimating has been hugely efficient, especially for people who work remotely. Even though our old system tied into a cloud drive, it never matched the responsiveness and flexibility of a true web-based application. I picked it up quickly and the learning curve was pretty gentle. I also appreciate that feedback can be submitted directly through the app and that the team actually takes those suggestions into account for future releases. It's rewarding to watch Stack roll out continual enhancements.
Cons
One frustration I have is that the app can become noticeably slow when I'm handling very large sets of documents. In day-to-day use it's mostly great but I often wish there were an option to work offline, something that would download changes locally and then sync back up once I have a connection. That would make it usable in places without reliable internet like job sites, airplanes or during meetings and it would solve a lot of workflow interruptions.

“Extremely flexible
Pros
I find it incredibly flexible because I can customize which features are active versus the ones I actually need to use.
Cons
The only real annoyance is that sometimes I need to refresh the page just to sign in during the first launch. Otherwise, everything I've tried and used so far in Stack has worked really well.

“Shows me accurate takeoff
Pros
I really value being able to view an exact takeoff and its cost in the backend, then send that information straight into an editable spreadsheet.
Cons
The price tag is about five hundred dollars higher than comparable tools which bothers me and I'm also frustrated that I can't track my affiliate traffic here like I do with other platforms.

“Improved our accuracy
Pros
It makes our lumber takeoffs much more precise. The visual cues stop me from missing parts and pieces as I work through estimates. The "assemblies" option lets us roll multiple related items into a single measurement and overall both our speed and the accuracy of our counts have noticeably improved.
Cons
I don't use it for project management or as our CRM/sales platform. Instead we rely heavily on its reporting features and the newer estimating tool. Unfortunately, none of the available reports really serve our downstream production needs so I wish there were more organizational features and richer project note capabilities to help maintain accuracy through later stages of our workflow.

“Great for field use to verify proper installation
Pros
Appreciate that the app can be used out in the field so our crews and office staff can verify we're installing things properly.
Cons
Sometimes we end up getting kicked off the system when too many people are connected at once which disrupts our workflow.

“Tons of help material
Pros
What I like about it is how simple it was to pick up and I was able to figure out how to use it really fast. There's also a wealth of help materials available when I need assistance. I end up using it every day.
Cons
I hardly find any downsides but if I had to point one out it would be that organizing takeoffs could be made a bit more simple. I'd like to see fewer steps required when I want to group takeoffs together.

“Happy with it!
Pros
We primarily rely on it for its takeoff module and while I can see us tapping into more of its capabilities in the future, we're already very pleased with the software as it stands. Frankly, we wouldn't be able to produce takeoffs with the same speed and level of accuracy without it.
Cons
Although I really appreciate the takeoff functionality, putting together organizing and editing my library takes far too much time. I still haven't figured out a simple way to duplicate items and assemblies and then modify them to speed things up. That might be easy if we focused on a single trade but we handle multiple types of work and each scope comes with its own unique line items.
