“Good audio editor for beginners
Pros
The software is incredibly easy to use. I was able to start editing audio files right away. It's so simple that it really speeds up the editing process.
Cons
It's cloud based, so you need internet access to use it. While it is easy to use, it lacks some advanced features that more complex systems offer, like audio processing options, equalizers, and advanced effects.

“Nice option for making professional demo videos
Pros
I use Descript for screen recordings and software demos. The speech-to-text transcription feature is fantastic. You can edit the video side-by-side with the transcript editor, and any changes made to the text sync with the video. The automatic cleanup for vocal disfluencies or hesitations ensures the final result sounds clean and professional. I also use the transcribed talk track to auto generate subtitles and share it with coworkers to help with written content creation.
Cons
Video processing takes a while, requiring a lot of computational resources, which reduces the time savings when recording. The user interface can also take some time to figure out if you're new to Descript.

“Essential for editing podcasts
Pros
Descript is great for collaborating with our production team on edits, pulling soundbites etc. It's also nice that it has its own app and storage system, especially since most files are quite large.
Cons
Combining multiple files from a podcast for editing can be a bit tedious.

“The best video-making software for non-experts
Pros
This software is amazing. It's powerful yet user-friendly and also very easy to use. There are plenty of training resources and even as a beginner, it's not difficult to start using it right away!
Cons
Not much to dislike. This software is amazing. A couple of rare instances where my video and audio got out of sync, but that was easy to fix.

“Amazing tool but a bit pricey
Pros
I love the text based editing feature. The AI tools are also quite effective.
Cons
The pricing is a bit steep. I spend a lot of time cleaning up transcript errors and speaker labels. If these worked more accurately, I could cut down the time it takes to get a podcast ready for publication.

“The best tool for transcribing meetings
Pros
We mainly use Descript to transcribe meetings. It only takes a few minutes to transcribe an hour long meeting, saving us the time and effort of doing it manually. We can then refer back to the meeting whenever we need to create content based on what was said.
Cons
Nothing to complain about so far. I haven't used all the features yet but for transcribing meetings, it's been a lifesaver for us.

Cons
No complaints yet. I have just started using it recently and it's been a really useful tool for us across the company.

“Perfect for fast and simple editing
Pros
Because Descript is text-based, editing video and audio is much easier specially for long or complex files.
Cons
Since it's text-based, muting background noise or making other minor adjustments that would be simple in other editors can be challenging.

“All-in-one video editing with powerful AI tools
Pros
It's so easy to use and you can edit video like a text document, with great AI features as well.
Cons
The initial learning curve can be a bit steep. It's such a powerful platform that it takes some time to get used to. However the "How To" content is really helpful and easy to follow.

“Well worth the price
Pros
We use Descript for two main purposes: audio transcription (sometimes many hours a month) and text based video and audio editing for staff who are less tech savvy. It works perfectly for both.
Cons
I get frustrated with the constant changes in features and the removal of classic functions. The editing aspect especially is great for those who prefer working with words rather than visuals and for less tech savvy employees who just need to trim a video or remove a word. The constant changes confuse people!

“Amazing tool for podcast editing
Pros
I really love how easy it is to edit audio and video with text. Searching for specific phrases or moments by text instead of manually scrolling through everything saves so much time!
Cons
The audio mixing features still need improvement, especially for more complicated compositions. I work around it by mixing and exporting audio in Pro Tools and then importing it for editing and music.
