Valuable for brand and consumer information

Pros

It gives me access to a wide range of sources for brand and consumer information which is something I really value.

Cons

It can be a bit pricey, particularly for smaller businesses.

Provides accurate feedback

Pros

These days, sales numbers alone just don't tell the whole story. It's important to know how customers actually felt about a product and where in the buying journey those feelings happened. It brings a really innovative approach to that, with a strong understanding of the full customer experience so the feedback it provides feels relevant, accurate and dependable.

Cons

At the beginning, the dashboard was fairly difficult to navigate and work with.

Custom dashboards with powerful insights

Pros

They tailored their dashboard to meet our urgent, demanding requirements especially for tracking spikes in violence and public perceptions of political leadership in crisis countries.

Cons

The volume of information felt a bit too much. That said, their analysis and reporting gave us insights we simply would not have been able to uncover otherwise.

Incredible support

Pros

Using it feels very simple. It's not complicated in the slightest, the colour scheme is comfortable on the eyes and everything is laid out in a way that makes features simple to locate. The support team has been outstanding as well someone is always available to help no matter the time of day and on the rare occasion a technical issue comes up, it gets sorted out very quickly. Another big plus is that there's no need for manual tagging since The Crowd handles that for you.

Cons

I'd suggest increasing the size of the white space where we type responses back to customers.

Gives us deep insights

Pros

Being able to see the actual mentions has easily been the most valuable part of using this software. It gives us much deeper insight into what's being said and has been genuinely helpful throughout my time on the platform. Another feature that stands out is the option to build a dashboard around a specific topic which lets the organization really zoom in on particular areas and understand those conversations in real time.

Cons

AI doesn't always read sentiment correctly. If it comes across "thank you" in a tweet, it may label it as positive even when it's clearly being used sarcastically. I'm also not a fan of how the platform handles keyword filtering when there isn't an exact match. For example, if someone tweets "uCapitec" instead of "Capitec," we're unable to track that mention or analyze the engagement around it. Another area that could be better is when a hashtag like #AbsaPrem is driving a lot of conversation but people replying to the original tweet don't include #AbsaPrem in their responses. In cases like that, it becomes difficult to measure how much of the conversation was actually sparked by #AbsaPrem since those reply tweets won't be included unless they contain the exact hashtag. Hope that makes sense.

Strong account management and engagement

Pros

Right from the start, it has delivered on what it promises but the real differentiator has been the account management and overall engagement. The human element in their vetting process is something I especially appreciate and it adds a lot of value to the experience.

Cons

With the reporting tool and feedback, there have been a few occasions where the "insight" lacked enough context which made it open to misinterpretation and caused some confusion during presentations. It's nothing major and feels more like general feedback than an actual software problem.

Superb custom reporting

Pros

Most of my usage is centered around the custom reporting and I rarely rely on the dashboard.

Cons

Even after several sessions, I still haven't been able to dedicate enough time to fully learn the tool which feels fairly complex to use.

Reliable human monitoring insights

Pros

Having real people monitor and verify things makes a big difference especially in a diverse country like ours where slang, vernac and humor can easily be misunderstood. Being able to spot and follow trends is also really valuable.

Cons

Setting up my own insights and dashboards can be a bit tricky although the team is always on hand to help when needed.

Fantastic audience insights

Pros

One of the biggest benefits for us is the audience insight it provides. We can see the demographics of people engaging with the brand and connect with specific target groups on a more personal, one-on-one level, including rewarding loyal fans. It's also very useful for tracking consumer trends which helps us refine our ads and build stronger paid media strategies. On top of that, we're able to create ads based on consumer behavior and the behavior of the audiences most likely to engage with our profiles.

Cons

Not every newer social platform is included yet, Snapchat being one example. That said, we do understand that some of these gaps come from API limitations on certain platforms.

Advanced analytics platform

Pros

If you want an analytics platform that goes beyond basic monitoring and actually captures and interprets online conversations, this is a really solid choice.

Cons

Advert Value Equivalent can be hard to explain clearly to clients and the platform could be more user-friendly overall.
