“They need a lot time to address the bugs
Pros
I am submitting this review mainly to discuss the design features of the platform. I have not yet reached the stage where I can comment on the functionality of the application itself.
Cons
In short the design interface is not the best. It is difficult to navigate forcing you to jump between different sections just to edit one page. And even though it is built on the Bootstrap system, the implementation is poor. For example it does not allow full width images in the hero section as everything is stuck at 1200px which looks bad on most desktops. I have been told this has been a known issue for months.

“Consider other options
Pros
The one thing I liked was how simple it was to use the pre-built templates.
Cons
There has been an ongoing issue since February 2022 where you cannot save your work and there were IQA problems from November 2021 to February 2022. It seems like there are continuous backend issues which the CTO has even acknowledged. On top of that the lack of updates and poor customer support have made the experience terrible. So I would recommend paying more for a more reliable service. My department has faced criticism from the executive team because Higher Logic does not seem to address these issues. And if you are using this platform for email automation I would give it a zero. As emails do not go out to our contact list and nothing gets saved, leading to a lot of frustration. We have missed several deadlines due to 504 errors and customer service takes days to respond.

“Good community, average CMS
Pros
Higher Logic is excellent for communities and directories. Plus the automation features make it easy to contact members and keep everyone informed and the communities help members from around the world stay connected sharing the latest updates, tips and tricks.
Cons
I noticed that content management system/website section is not as powerful or customizable without serious HTML or coding knowledge compared to other web platforms.

“Helped us stay connected
Pros
It provided the perfect platform for our research team to stay connected. While working on a project about ancient manuscripts with scholars from different parts of the world to whom we rarely met in person but Higher Logic kept us in touch. It helped us stay on track with our research and maintain strong relationships. Also the peer to peer support tools were especially helpful ensuring we met our deadlines and stayed productive throughout the project.
Cons
Any platform that connects a research community requires a bit of a learning curve and Higher Logic was no exception. However the software was very easy to use for our research community.

“Weak editing tools and search needs improvement
Pros
I would say the software is fairly simple to use if you are only looking to create simple pages.
Cons
The search function can't be hardcoded, we rely on it as an intranet for our sales team to access product information and sales tools, with dedicated pages for each solution area.. Unfortunately the search feature is terrible as it pulls up random results with cloud in the text instead of showing the Cloud Community Page at the top. Plus the editor is another issue as it is difficult to use. Creating an appealing and engaging page is not easy too. There are better HTML editors out there but this one is buggy and frustrating to work with.

“Doesn't live up to its name
Pros
On the bright side the software is quite user friendly and it does not take long to understand the basics, it is not hard to get started or to show someone how to use it. We mainly use Informz from Higher Logic for sending our retail-focused emails. Plus setting up test groups and targeting emails is simple.
Cons
Honestly the software is highly unreliable as half the time, you encounter server errors or the entire platform goes down. Also there is very little customization available. You cannot modify your CSS or integrate other features for email creation like branded fonts or interactive visuals. As someone who builds emails I want my emails to align with our marketing and promotional materials but it is hard to achieve this without sacrificing readability and flexibility on this platform.

“The top choice
Pros
It is clear that they use their years of experience to improve their products by taking feedback from users and clients into account which I like the most about them.
Cons
As a single product user it sometimes feels like our needs such as bug fixes and improvements are not considered as urgent.
