A standout benefit of this platform is the detailed access control it offers. It prevents lateral access which is a huge security advantage and adds a very strong layer of protection. It also includes High Availability support so it works well in environments where uptime and continuity really matter. Another big plus is that perimeter security is built right into the software itself. On top of that, it makes things much more practical for end users since they can go straight into their systems from the application and handle their daily tasks more efficiently.

Cons

Pricing feels fairly high compared with other similar solutions. That said, the perimeter security built into the product does help justify the investment. One issue I have noticed is that connectivity becomes unreliable over 3G cellular networks, where the session tends to drop often. Rather than waiting for the connection to recover, the application disconnects right away which means users have to keep reconnecting.

Using it feels very self explanatory and connecting to multiple resources at the same time is incredibly convenient. I don't have to disconnect from my SDP just to work in two different environments, like my cloud setup and my on-premise environment.

At the beginning, it can be a little challenging to fully grasp how the tool works because most of us are so used to working with a traditional VPN but this is a more advanced concept.

Getting everything set up can feel a bit tedious for end users and enabling access permissions is also somewhat annoying especially for people who are not very technical. Because of that, the onboarding process can feel steeper for less experienced users.

Because of that, the business has been able to keep running even when people are working from home. It also sends authentication codes at login which adds another layer of security. Cons

Setting up Appgate SDP can be challenging if you're a beginner or someone without much IT knowledge.
