Cons

One small frustration I've encountered is the limited customization options for policy templates. We had specific internal language we wanted to use and while it was possible to customize, it did take some extra manual effort. Also, the integrations with other tools could definitely be expanded to reduce the need for repetitive updates across platforms.

Carbide has been a fantastic resource, offering the tools and support needed to kickstart security and compliance programs. It allows me to track progress against compliance standards and helps fill in important details that might otherwise be overlooked in a smaller organization. With Carbide, I'm able to hit the ground running using pre built templates, saving me from starting from scratch in what can be a very overwhelming space. The resources, training and the knowledgeable support team have been invaluable especially the downloadable materials, which make completing tasks much easier and headache free.

Cons

While there are many great aspects to Carbide, there are a few downsides. I find the process of uploading evidence a bit confusing since there seem to be multiple ways to do it. Also the overall experience doesn't feel as user friendly as other platforms I've used. Though I'm new to security and compliance, I find some parts a bit tricky to understand especially in terms of exactly what I need to do.

Having a dedicated person guide me through tasks and hold me accountable for completing projects has been a huge help. As someone new to SaaS compliance, having an expert there to support me has made the process far less stressful. It's reassuring to know I have someone I can reach out to with questions, since tools like Google or ChatGPT aren't always as reliable. The system itself is very user-friendly and I love that it comes with templates so I don't have to start everything from scratch. The dashboards are also fantastic, they provide real time updates on my progress, which makes it easy to share clear, actionable data with the leadership team.

Cons

Initially I thought Carbide would be the one source of truth for all our compliance documents. I expected it to be a place where I could store everything from our contract agreements to all the compliance related details. However it is really more of a tool for storing evidence, providing a snapshot in time. I would have liked the ability to make it a one-stop solution for managing many of our documents.

The platform's features, such as evidence management, awareness training and policy sign-off tracking, have been great and are easy to incorporate into our employee onboarding process.

Cons

Lately the navigation has gotten worse. It's become harder to find tasks related to specific controls. Also it's missing some features that competitors like Vanta offer.

Software keeps improving and it's great to see the evolution. But what stands out the most is how the Carbide team genuinely partners with us in achieving compliance goals. Their follow up and consistent involvement throughout the process are unparalleled compared to other platforms.

Cons

Carbide could benefit from more connectors but I know they are actively working on adding more.
