“Great DNS security product for endpoints and routers
Pros
We wanted a product that could be launched at the router level and DNS Filter provided that ability along with a very easy to use UI and dashboard.
Cons
At this point we have not found anything we dislike.

“DNSFilter is easy, affordable DNS security
Pros
DNS Filter has been simple to use. We just partnered a month ago and installing it has been easy. There were a couple of minor issues but support is very quick to respond and resolve them.
Cons
Adding new clients to the portal generates a lot of unnecessary emails.

“DNS FIlter - Easy to deploy and provides great peace of mind for companies with staff working at ho
Pros
This can be set up and configured in under 20 minutes and is incredibly easy to use. The filtering and advanced features prevent newly registered websites likely to contain malware from being accessed. Content filtering is simple and whitelists can quickly handle anything that is incorrectly blocked. It is an inexpensive solution that offers great value.
Cons
There is very little not to like. I cannot say there was anything I disliked.

“Very promising but does not deliver
Pros
Getting it ready to run is easy to start and the dashboard looks good.
Cons
Fine-tuning is difficult and lacking in several areas. The useful extras are expensive. Customer support is not responsive at all. Be cautious with sharing credit card information during the trial period because they charge immediately and if you cancel you lose access to the service even if charged.

“Great Product
Pros
I have used this service for several years after switching from a more expensive competitor. DNS Filter is very simple to use and maintain. I use it for three different networks. It is reliable performs well and the policies are very configurable. I do not currently use all the features they offer.
Cons
We began using DNS Filter when the pricing model was based on internet requests. They have since changed to a pernuser model which has recently made it more expensive for us. However the service still offers tremendous value for the price and is likely still less expensive than competitors. I did not even bother researching alternatives when our rates increased.

“Good Product with Better Functionality than Competitors

DNS Filter helps keep systems secure and monitored. Roaming agents allow the systems to be protected no matter where they are located.

“DNS Filter filled a gap
Pros
overall my experience has been great. We needed software to add web protection and this fits perfectly. We have only used the Windows deployments so far but I am happy to know that we can expand to various other setups if needed. It is protecting us and our clients from online threats we would not have otherwise known about. The software is lightweight but very effective and easy to use once familiar with the online portal.
Cons
The filtering can be a bit too strict. There may be an ad or link on the page that seems fine but the page wont open until you investigate further to find the issue. Whitelisting usually resolves that but sometimes it is hard to identify the culprit.

“Good value of money
Pros
It was so easy to put up our 600 plus iPads with great integration at JAMF School. The management dashboard is full of useful features.
Cons
The query log should be longer than 24 hours and the query log search is somewhat slow.

“Fantastic additional layer of security
Pros
From sign up to set up took only a matter of minutes. We now have an additional layer of protection and insight into what sites staff are using. Along with our standard antivirus and firewall technologies this solution with DNS Filter helps us better manage our remote devices and ensures our team is protected even as remote work becomes the norm.
Cons
There are no real cons though it would be beneficial to see the reporting capability further improved to include scheduled reports based on user activity.

“DNSFilter works well with pfSense firewall/router at our high school.
Pros
First it worked with my specific firewall and router made sense. Second the cost was appropriate for our school. Third it is easy to create separate policies for students teachers administrators staff and IT. Fourth a roaming client is included. We successfully tested its features and will be installing it on all the students chromebooks by pushing it out from the Google workspace for education dashboard.
Cons
Insights Reporting shows the previous day's activity when you first access it. This is a minor annoyance when I want to see current activity.

“Finally, DNS filtering that makes sense
Pros
The product has been incredibly reliable and any issues we encountered were due to our own configuration not the product itself. The overall configuration of sites and granular policies is very simple and easy to use. The reporting features are far more in-depth than our previous solution.
Cons
The lack of alert notifications is the only issue we have encountered while using the software.

“review of DNSFilter
Pros
This product was a drop in replacement for a previous DNS filtering service we used. The earlier solution was not dependable but DNS Filter has been a significant improvement. DNS Filter's DNS servers respond quickly and reliably.
Cons
I have only been using DNS Filter for a few months and have not found any serious flaws yet.

“It doesn't get any easier
Pros
It has allowed us to greatly improve web security for our customers and increase profit margins for our business. We were early adopters of DNS Filter when the only other option on the market was OpenDNS Umbrella at a much higher price point. Consistent improvements are made and the DNS Filter team pays close attention to what their partners want to see in the product and implements those changes quickly. Global policies ease of configuration speed and integrations with AD make it hard to find anything better.
Cons
I cannot think of any cons. The software does exactly what it claims to do and does it effectively.

“Solid Backup Solution
Pros
DNS Filter offers a quick and easy option for CIPA filtering allowing us peace of mind that we are maintaining compliance at every step. The custom DNS options and the roaming client help us cover our bases.
Cons
No options are foolproof and DNS filter is no exception. Without some tight rules it is easy to bypass most custom DNS settings.
