Top-notch service

Pros

Since opening our store 18 years ago, we've been using this program continuously. It has always been user-friendly, simple to use and the customer service has been excellent.

Cons

Only downside was that the analytics didn't feel specific enough for our industry needs.

Happy with our choice

Pros

Running a large wine retail business with five locations and about $70M in yearly sales, we recently launched a new concept that blends alcohol retailing (wine, beer and spirits) with grocery, cheese, deli and cafe service. After evaluating a lot of POS systems, we ended up choosing Comcash and we have been very pleased with that choice. The advantages for us have been clear: it is cloud-based, works exceptionally well for hybrid retail and restaurant operations and comes with a responsive support team. It also handles complex product setups with parent-child relationships such as beers sold in multiple pack sizes. On top of that, the API is reliable and gave us the ability to connect it with our ecommerce platform and we can also build catering quotes and process those charges directly through the back end.

Cons

At this point, we are very satisfied with it and do not really have any major negatives to mention. We did experience occasional downtime with the deli monitors but that was later traced back to a network issue on our own store side rather than a problem with the software itself.

attentive team

Pros

After 14+ years on Comcash Classic, we're now transitioning the business to Comcash's cloud POS. Once you get used to the differences between the legacy system and the newer POS, it feels pretty user-friendly to work with. The development and deployment team has also been very responsive and attentive, helping us work through issues with the cloud-based POS and moving us closer to a full cloud launch.

Cons

The Classic version has definitely started to show its age and with the size of our database it creates a lot of errors. We're hoping the switch to Comcash Cloud POS will solve those problems but the initial setup has come with plenty of frustrations and bumps along the way.

valuable business health insights

Pros

Its amazing how much information you can pull from it. The data is timely and gives really valuable insight into the overall health of the business.

Cons

There are occasional glitches and sometimes the fixes take a bit longer than expected to get resolved.

inaccurate reports and poor support

Pros

Our setup is a little unusual since we sell both restaurant products and retail merchandise and Comcash's front end does seem built to handle that combination.

Cons

The backend reporting ends up being useless because the numbers are never accurate and they refuse to work with you to figure out why the reports don't match. On top of that, the merchant account runs through a third-party integration and they don't communicate directly with Comcash. If anything is off, you're the one stuck trying to sort it out. Their attitude is also incredibly condescending and customer service clearly is not a priority for them.

strong multi-location functionality

Pros

The overall functionality works well and the integration between multiple locations is one of the biggest advantages.

Cons

A noticeable gap is the lack of EBT integration. The system has a lot of untapped potential although the team does keep releasing updates on a regular basis. When you share recommendations, they do seem willing to include them in future releases. The downside is that these updates can also introduce different bugs which you then have to report back to them. Support is helpful for basic issues and anything that could cause downtime but when it comes to deeper, more complex problems, those usually have to be escalated from first-line support to the development team. Even with that limitation, they are attentive, willing to assist and they do try to connect you with the right answer or person. The Comcash Counts app also seems to have recurring bugs that I am still working through with them.

Cloud-based system

Pros

Being cloud-based makes it very convenient to use and the system has been reliable overall. I also feel confident knowing the data is secure and properly backed up.

Cons

Since it depends on an internet connection, a slow connection can impact the software's speed and overall performance.

constant improvements

Pros

One thing that keeps me happy with it is that the company is always making updates and looking for better ways to improve the software. It feels like they genuinely work to keep it user-friendly and simpler to navigate.

Cons

The reporting and printout area of the program still has room for improvement especially when working from Apple devices.
