“quick carbon tracking win”

Pros

Running a small business, I was a bit concerned that gathering everything needed for carbon footprint calculations would be too demanding. In reality, the data collection was just as simple as I'd been told before signing up with this app for the footprinting work. The entire process felt quick and easy.

Pros

From the very beginning, the team was incredibly helpful, friendly and knowledgeable at every stage. They made the footprinting process feel very easy and their guidance on building a portfolio and improving our team's emissions was genuinely valuable. The dashboard is also simple to navigate.

Cons

At this point, I really can't think of anything negative to mention.

Pros

The dashboard and reporting functions are very user friendly and easy to access. On top of that the team usually gets back with answers fairly quickly.

Cons

Buying removal offsets came across as a bit too sales focused during the process.

Pros

After working with other providers in this space, this was the first time it felt like we were dealing with a real partner instead of just being pointed in a vague direction and left to fill in the gaps ourselves. The team behind this program actually took the time to listen and engage with us properly. Whenever questions come up, there's always someone available to talk to and the replies are fast. No matter who we speak with, the team comes across as knowledgeable and genuinely willing to help. The Xero integration worked smoothly as well, including across all three of our international entities.

Cons

A bit more clarity on exactly what needs to be pulled from Xero would be helpful especially for smaller details like a client meeting in a coffee shop. There are also some assumptions made around pensions and policies for hardware purchasing or disposal. That said, we did need an extremely fast turnaround for our emissions calculations so I'm hoping the next cycle gives us more time to go into that level of detail.

Pros

Using the platform felt very simple which made the calculations flow without any problem. From a business standpoint, it didn't take up much of our time because the whole process was very user friendly. The way the results were presented was especially useful and helped us understand our emissions in much more detail. Collecting the data didn't require a lot of prior knowledge about carbon offsetting so it was accessible for pretty much anyone on the team. On top of that the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and we really appreciated the Slack integration since it made getting quick answers while working much more convenient.

Cons

The Net Zero recommendations could have been better customized to fit our business and presented more clearly as a step by step plan. Also some of the offsetting options felt fairly expensive compared with what other providers offer.

“good fit for a remote company”

Pros

As a mostly remote digital company, we went with this because a lot of other carbon calculators and removal providers didn't really fit the kind of footprint we have. Their team understood our business in a way others didn't especially since our emissions profile is less obvious than something like a factory which many competitors seem better set up for. The support and account management were excellent throughout as well. The team was approachable, friendly and always willing to help.

Cons

There were times when the process felt fairly manual. I know they have plans on the roadmap to bring in more technology integrations but it still seems like there's room to improve in that area. The dashboard also felt a bit basic when we last used it which is one reason we haven't really gone back to it since the initial footprinting work. On top of that our relationship manager left the company and since then it has felt like we may have slipped through the cracks. It would have been good for someone to reach out and carry the relationship forward into the second year.

The team is consistently helpful and clearly cares about the service they deliver. The whole setup process is very smooth and doesn't require much time from me or my team.

Cons

At times there's a slightly pushy feel around the carbon removals. After working with this platform for a couple of years now, I've also been a bit disappointed by the lack of continuity and year over year comparison. That applies both to their familiarity with my company and past conversations and to the carbon report itself. Categories were changed, removed, added or merged from one year to the next which makes it hard to compare results and understand exactly what changed.

Getting started with the product was easy and it does a really good job of breaking down the complicated topic of carbon emissions into something much easier to understand and act on responsibly. Entering the information needed to calculate emissions is quick and simple and once the results are ready, the platform gives clear direction on what to do next, including a very convenient way to purchase offsets. The team also stands out for being knowledgeable and very responsive whenever questions or feedback come up.

Cons

Since the product is still developing, there are a few minor bugs here and there but they don't take away from the overall value it provides.

It gave us really useful analysis of our carbon footprint, helping pinpoint the biggest sources of emissions and making it possible to focus our reduction efforts where they matter most. The SBTi support was excellent as well and the team was genuinely lovely to work with.

Cons

One area that could be better is communication especially with clearer progress updates and more user friendly documentation, such as a draft email to help circulate the questionnaire.

Pros

With Supercritical's support, we were able to approach things properly, make sure we're genuinely carbon neutral in the near term and stay on track toward net zero.

Cons

This isn't really an issue caused by them but the shifting rules around carbon accounting are frustrating. Widely accepted standards seem to change year after year which makes long term comparisons difficult. Businesses need consistency and predictability and the carbon accounting industry as a whole still has a lot of progress to make here.
