Pros

The platform keeps evolving and that has been a real plus for us. It's very useful and performs really well for data lineage across SQL Server, SAP BODS and SAP BI especially with upcoming migration plans for these tools. Another strong point is the support team which is extremely responsive and highly effective.

Cons

We haven't run into any drawbacks in our day-to-day use.

Pros

Getting a clear understanding of our data assets has been genuinely impressive. The original goal was to interpret Talend flows which were largely made up of massive SQL queries wrapped inside them, 2,770 flows covering nearly 470 data tables. We were able to reach the expected outcome in less than a week which was quite remarkable.

Our use of the platform is still experimental at this stage and we haven't run into any difficulties yet.

The data-lineage feature makes it much easier to understand the company's information systems and see how everything is connected.

It is still a very technical product and it would benefit from being more geared toward managers and non-technical users.

It handles full data lineage with impressive accuracy and does a solid job covering even the more niche, esoteric use cases.

The visualization side still needs work although that's understandably a tough challenge when the platform is processing such a large volume of data.

It provides structured access to metadata and makes impact analysis possible. The software is also fairly open and we were able to get access to the underlying data.

It may be missing an interface that would let us browse and navigate the metadata ourselves.

This tool quickly gives a clear visual view of how a possible change to a component like a table structure or an SSIS flow, could affect our data warehouse.

It works efficiently right out of the box especially when it comes to the database side and business object features.

The impact analysis is really useful and being able to export detailed lists from a specific component like a universe, database or table saves a lot of time. I also appreciate the overall health charts for the Business Objects platform especially for redundancy and objects since they give a clear view of the environment. The document backup option is another valuable feature, even if we do not use it very often.

Cons

User management still feels a bit too manual and it would be much better if that part were built directly into the tool through an administration module.

Pros

Getting the product installed and supported has been simple and change requests are handled very quickly. It also covers our needs well when it comes to governance for our reporting tool.

As for the product installation and support, we really haven't run into any weak points.

The tool feels very complete overall, with a solid persistence module, simple usability, constant improvements and a company that stays responsive whenever needed.

Cons

It would be even more valuable if they added a feature to classify data specifically within the scope of GDPR compliance.
