“The best for benchmarking”
Pros
OpenComp is very user-friendly and easy to navigate which makes benchmarking simple. I also really like being able to export data as an executive summary as it saves time and makes reporting easier. The team has been great to work with and I have not faced any major issues. And as someone new to compensation analysis, I was surprised by how easy setup was. That, along with the smooth experience has left me with a very positive impression.
Cons
I wish I could benchmark all active roles by job title at once. Since we use the U.S average I should not have to run reports for each person individually as it would save a lot of time.

“pretty amazing for small teams”
Pros
I really value how fast and accurate OpenComp is when we need to build fair, equitable and market-aligned salary ranges. As a very small organization with a People Team of only two, we don't have the bandwidth to create compensation plans from scratch. But this tool has changed how we handle compensation, giving us immediate clarity and confidence that I find priceless. Another standout for our team was how smoothly the implementation went and how easily it integrates with Paylocity. And because data flows automatically, we no longer have to manually update salary ranges or worry about inconsistencies which saves a lot of time and spares us the headache of duplicated work. All told, it has been transformative for our team as it brings transparency, consistency and fairness to our compensation strategy and makes our small HR group feel like we have the tools and capabilities of a much larger department. It truly feels like a force multiplier for our tiny People Team.
Cons
Even though it has been extremely helpful for our team, we have noticed a few limitations. Some of our roles are highly specialized so finding powerful benchmark data can be difficult. So in those situations the available data often feels limited making it harder to set salary ranges with the same level of confidence we have for more common positions. Another recurring frustration is the lack of filtering options to narrow compensation data by company size or industry. As a smaller firm that doesn't compete directly with large tech companies, it would be incredibly useful to benchmark against organizations more similar to ours. Without those filters some suggested ranges can end up skewed higher than what's realistic or competitive for our particular market. These challenges are not dealbreakers by any means but having access to more fine, role-specific data and additional filtering capabilities would make the platform even more precise and valuable for companies like ours. Overall these shortcomings are manageable but addressing them would elevate the product from very good to indispensable for small organizations like ours.

“Strategic tool, invaluable for nonprofits”
Pros
The thing I like is that I can analyze compensation across the whole company and build salary ranges. It is a strategic, easy to use tool that really helps me do more. As an HR leader at a nonprofit with limited resources, i must say it's been invaluable. The support team is also very attentive as they check in regularly to make sure everything's working well and that I am on track with my goals.
Cons
No real negatives to report. There might be slightly less coverage for nonprofits in the standard dataset but I was able to supplement the platform by uploading our own survey results which enhanced the available data.

“Game-changer for global compensation”
Pros
In my role as an HR executive managing compensation programs across multiple organizations and countries and with more than 20+ years of experience, I've felt the pain of trying to keep pay practices both fair and current. But OpenComp has genuinely changed the game for me, particularly once you start navigating different geographies. It works as a central hub to align compensation on a global scale, giving leaders, managers and HR teams one reliable source of truth for pay decisions. That kind of clarity cuts out the constant back-and-forth and the guesswork that comes from outdated or inconsistent data.
Cons
It is still working to cover a few regions with more complex pay rules and those can be tricky. But when we ran into this issue, the team responded quickly and worked with us to find a solution for complex pay and allowances.

“Practical tools to align pay with market”
Pros
Over 15+ years as an HR leader in tech I have used many platforms. And OpenComp gives me practical tools to push back on inflated titles and salaries so we can reward people fairly without overshooting market pay. Also the job-family leveling is clear and helpful making promotion conversations easier for managers. I use it for daily tasks like matching jobs and pay during recruiting and for annual work like budgeting and compensation reviews. The support team is also outstanding as they are quick thoughtful and often jumps on a call within 24 hours to help. I honestly cannot praise them enough.
Cons
For about 99% of the job matching I do it's extremely useful but I've noticed that a few highly specialized positions particularly in Compliance don't have enough comparable data in the system to make the results truly actionable. That gap can make it hard to rely on the tool for those niche hires.

“Relies on it for remote salary benchmarking”
Pros
We rely on it to keep up with salary benchmarking across several states which is important for our fully remote team. Also the platform lets us easily define and uphold transparent, competitive pay bands for every position so our compensation approach stays in step with the market.
Cons
I'd appreciate seeing a broader selection of job titles that are specifically tailored to cloud computing roles.

“Very effective, easy, packed with features”
Pros
I have found OpenComp to be a very effective tool for improving compensation management. Also the platform is easy to use, packed with features and provides clear, useful data. Overall it was a great fit for my organization. Since we started using it, our compensation strategy has shown real improvement. So I'd confidently recommend it to any company looking to strengthen how it handles pay.
Cons
We have been using it for almost a year now and I'm still genuinely impressed with how well it performs across the board.

“Custom benchmarks & real market data”
Pros
There is a lot to like as I can customize benchmarks based on our funding, stage and location by using real market data, not just Bay Area-focused estimates. Plus the data updates every quarter so I know it reflects current pay from companies like ours. and for an early-stage startup, it offers great value and feels like a smart investment compared to more expensive options.
Cons
Sometimes I wish the platform had a wider range of job titles to benchmark especially for different roles in SaaS companies. That said I really appreciate the support team as they always step in to help when a title is missing or suggest the closest match.

“most user-friendly”
Pros
I rely on OpenComp daily. Its interface is very easy to navigate. Pulling and arranging data is simple too. During my time here we've tried a few compensation platforms and this one is easily the most user-friendly. It also integrates flawlessly with our HRIS so we can organize and benchmark our current staff. We've already renewed our subscription and don't intend to switch anytime soon. Customer support is excellent too. They respond quickly and answer my questions thoroughly every time.
Cons
It would be great if the product let me merge two positions although I can do it manually on my side. It's not a big deal but other tools include that. Overall there isn't much I dislike. Some roles aren't listed yet but you can submit feedback and those items get added as they grow over time.

“Easy HRIS hookup”
Pros
The platform is really easy to use, it hooks up with our HRIS, has a strong knowledge base packed with useful resources and the compensation consultants are responsive and well-informed. Plus I like the custom pay and geo strategy features and the visual offer tool.
Cons
Not much to criticize. Though some roles are not in the system yet but the team reviews job descriptions I send and shares recommendations. International data is also limited in some areas though they keep adding new roles, data and features so I expect it to improve over time.

“reasonable for startups”
Pros
OpenComp is UI very user friendly and easy to use. The pricing is reasonable for a growing startup like ours and it serves as a great starting point when I'm building a compensation strategy.

There is very little I dislike about this product But I'd appreciate if it included more compensation data.

“easy start and reasonable pricing”
Pros
Getting up and running with it was really simple. I first began with their free tier when our company had fewer than 25 people. As we expanded I grew fond of the tool so upgrading to a paid plan felt like the logical step. And I thought the pricing was very reasonable. Plus throughout the whole time their team has been on hand to help with my ongoing learning and they helped me configure it to meet my objectives.
Cons
I do notice there isn't good data for some niche, industry-specific roles. The dataset seems good for the typical SaaS tech startup, SMB or large enterprise but I often find that market benchmarks are missing for particular jobs in gaming and other more creative sectors.

“Thoughtful design, great experience”
Pros
Among the many compensation tools available, I notice it aims to stand out. I have relied on it at my previous employer and at my current organization and as a founder I'm always hunting for top-notch comp solutions to make sure my teams are well supported. The interface and overall product are thoughtfully designed as it has a clean UI and offer a great experience that makes it simple to work with.
Cons
Because the compensation landscape is so competitive I'm constantly having to bring in fresh data to keep things accurate. So I'd really appreciate it if it refreshed its job family mappings more frequently so the benchmarks stay current and reliable.

“Incredibly user-friendly”
Pros
From my experience, Open Comp's interface is incredibly user friendly and easy to navigate. Pulling data takes almost no effort and I like that I can run several scenarios simultaneously. Plus the platform's real-time data stream is a fantastic way for me to stay competitive in the market.
Cons
I discovered an issue in the comp data where lower-level roles showed lower pay which didn't make sense. After I raised it with the support team, they responded promptly and we had the problem resolved quickly.

“Syncs with hris”
Pros
My team and I can keep employee benchmarking current for everyone because it syncs with our HRIS and pulls in updated information automatically. There's no need for manual data entry anymore! I can also update my compensation benchmarks whenever necessary and instead of sifting through countless other sources, I rely on it as my definitive source of truth.
Cons
Up to this point I haven't notice any features of the platform that I dislike.

“Completely reshaped compensation strategy”
Pros
Using it has completely reshaped how we manage our compensation strategy and the administrative work around it. Plus its user friendly interface, broad feature set and exceptional customer support especially our dedicated CSMs have made it one of the most important tools for both HR and Finance on our team. Also I'm excited to see how the product keeps evolving and I feel confident it will continue to support both our strategic priorities and day to day operational needs. For us it has been a genuine game-changer. We couldn't have modernized our compensation approach or delivered the level of pay transparency and equity we have without partnering with this tool. The DEI capabilities are, in my view, indispensable for any compensation team.
Cons
We have found the product team incredibly open to suggestions about the user experience and any feature or enhancement ideas we bring forward and that's a major advantage for us. They genuinely listen and have been very responsive to our input so to be honest the platform's current product limitations are limited to a couple of things. First it doesn't integrate with our HRIS so we don't get real-time data updates. Second there's no way to terminate an employee in the platform and then create a backfill that maintains the original leveling. I mean it would be great to have some kind of position ID that ties a level to a role.
