Ideal for small business owners

Pros

The app looked pretty simple on desktop but was also pretty easy to use for messaging. Plus I liked that you could set up repeating shifts and start group chats easily.

Cons

I think the app could use some updates to improve usability like letting employees suggest shift changes with manager approval, adding form options and stuff like that.

Helped a lot during QA checks

Pros

I enjoy using Sling's shift planning tools as it helps me manage my QA team across Suho Garmindo's production areas and gives me a clear view of who is on shift.

Cons

Some of the automation tools are missing in the free plan so I often end up spending extra time fixing schedules manually when last-minute changes come up.

Happy with how it works

Pros

So far I have loved the color tags, how easy it is to use and how helpful their support is. Plus we are still learning more of what it can do and I am excited to keep using it.

Cons

It would be great if I could rename PTO types like sick or sick child. Also the PTO hours are not counted in the paid hours total so I have to run a separate report to calculate everything.

Makes scheduling way easier

Pros

It is very simple to manage different schedules and team calendars. Plus I like that I can switch between desktop and mobile versions without any trouble.

Cons

This is more of a user issue but still I would like to share that my team uses a bunch of calendars, so if you are not careful it is easy to get mixed up between schedules.

So glad this is free to use

Pros

What stood out for me was how user friendly it was. The color layout made everything easier to read and I liked being able to set up schedules for multiple locations.

Cons

One thing that annoyed me was whenever I moved a shift it would automatically get unpublished again.

One of the best schedulers I have tried

Pros

I use Sling to organize schedules for both my front desk and pool staff. Also it has worked great so far and is quite user-friendly that even my older employees had no trouble learning it. Plus I very much like that it works on both the app and the website.

Cons

Well I wish the free plan did not cap at 50 users. I have already hit my limit and can't add more. I am trying out the business premium trial and love the geofencing and clock-in features but it's annoying that if someone clocks out by mistake, they cannot fix it or clock back in until their next shift. Plus I feel like it should work like the clock-in edit feature.

Does the job just fine

Pros

Love how I can use colors to label staff, shuffle shifts easily and print out a full month's worth of scheduling with no problem at all.

Cons

I have not been able to set admin roles, the rotating shift matrix is tricky and there is no way to include our shorter workdays in the regular schedule setup.

My favorites for sure

Pros

It runs perfectly for me. Honestly it is an awesome tool for managing staffing needs.

Cons

The thing that is frustrating is that the app does not show what location an employee is working at.

I like it!

Pros

Sling makes planning shifts and handling tim -off requests pretty easy for both our managers and employees.

Cons

It feels a bit limited. Also I noticed that there is no built-in training or tutorials inside the app.

Meets expectations

Pros

I really liked how simple it was to check my shifts and message the team whenever I needed to.

Cons

Basic but gets the job done

Pros

It is easy to figure out. Also I can see all upcoming shifts, clock in and out smoothly and adjust hours if needed. It even shows weekly totals which helps with accurate invoicing.

Cons

Nothing really bothered me. I did not use the chat much but I did notice that when someone reported being sick, it created a bunch of separate chat threads as it'd be better if that went into one conversation.

Great fit for smaller companies

Pros

I like that I can schedule multiple roles and that it is quite user friendly overall.

Cons

It is pretty expensive compared to other tools and I think it is missing a few features. Also I wish I could turn off certain things like letting staff post their own shifts.

Our NGO loves this software

Pros

We have been using Sling for our NGO, Care Alliance and it has been amazing. Their team is quite supportive too and actually adds new features when we suggest them like the conflict alerts. And big thanks to Sling for building such great software.

Cons

Nothing stands out as a downside but I do wish it could connect with Xero for bookings or accounting that would be a nice bonus.

Just what we were looking

Pros

Well I find it the best for comparing wages to income, managing rotas and using the clock-in/out system.

Cons

It would be helpful if it linked up with Bright. Also I think the full version could be a little more affordable.

All-in-one tool for staff messages

Pros

We are big fans of the time-off request feature as it is flexible enough to request by the hour or full day which works perfectly for our setup. Also I like that we get notified when someone submits a request and whether it's approved or still pending which is proven very helpful for keeping managers updated.

Cons

We stick to the free version since we are under 50 users but during busy seasons like summer, we go over that. Also it'd be awesome if there was some flexibility to go past the limit now and then without switching to paid.

Loved it!

Pros

One thing I love is how you can completely customize unavailability and have it show up right on top of the schedule as it really helps with planning.

Cons

There is no way to edit a time-off request once it is submitted which is quite a problem.
