Saves time verifying citations

Pros

Working with Clearbrief has been helpful in my role as an arbitrator especially when I need to review case materials, build timelines and check citations. And the feature I value most is the ability to verify both case law and factual citations. As it saves me a lot of time and effort because I do not have to manually track down every case and citation just to confirm accuracy and avoid any AI hallucinations in the parties briefs and submissions. I also appreciated that getting started with it was easy.

Cons

workflow still feels somewhat complicated although that may improve with more practice. The tool also seems to be built more with counsel in mind than arbitrators and those two roles have very different goals.

broken links

Pros

One of the most useful parts is being able to connect case documents when putting together a fact timeline and it helps a lot to have all of the key case materials gathered in one place for reference. Preparing a table of authorities is also valuable. It is also helpful that I can pull source documents through iManage.

Cons

Linking to a source document is not easy. Tying a statement to a specific part of a source document is also hard to figure out. I mean you cannot change much about how citations appear. After I build a timeline and add citations to a source document, I want the links to still work when I come back later but they don't. Also the table of authorities still generates without page numbers.

Great OCR overall

Pros

The OCR feature and document linking are really useful mainly when running cite checks.

Cons

One issue is that factual linking can be inconsistent depending on the document we are working with.

Powerful OCR

Pros

It is really powerful and it's much easier to use than Acrobat or Adobe.

Cons

There is definitely some complexity to it and the extra features come with a bit of a learning curve.

impresses lawyers

Pros

Coming from AI and innovation rather than legal practice I have been involved in piloting Clearbrief with our team and during the training sessions I've heard plenty of oohs and aahs from the lawyers. That's exactly the kind of reaction I was hoping for and honestly it is music to my ears.

Cons

At this point I have not heard any complaints or run into anything that users have said they dislike.

Easy integration!

Pros

Clearbrief feels pretty easy to start with and integrating it into my software was simple. Plus it makes the usual work of finalizing a brief much more efficient and a lot less draining. I also like the range of features and the way it guides you through the process step by step.

Cons

The interface can feel a little overwhelming at first especially for a new user and it is not quite as user friendly as I expected.

very helpful tool

Pros

Putting together a timeline of the case facts has been really helpful with it. Also it makes it much easier to identify which facts are agreed on and which ones the parties are disputing. Another big plus is that it works directly inside Word so I do not have to bring another app or piece of software into my daily workflow.

Cons

It offers a lot which is a good thing but it also means it will take quite a bit of time to really become proficient with it.

Excellent and user-friendly tool

Pros

Clearbrief helps me quickly find and organize exhibits and citation references and I can jump straight to the source with just a click to verify it. Also it is very user-friendly and simple to work with.

Cons

There are a few more clicks than I'd prefer when moving through the system but after using it a handful of times, the workflow starts to feel logical.

AI document search that delivers

Pros

Working with Clearbrief has been a really positive experience especially because it can search and analyze large sets of documents all at once. Also it does much more than a basic keyword search as its AI actually reviews the content and identifies sections of documents that may be responsive to what you need. That has been incredibly valuable when going through medical records.

Cons

Honestly I do not have any real complaints. There are still areas they can continue improving but their customer support has been very responsive, helpful and proactive in making sure my firm has the assistance it needs.
