“Modern and user-friendly case tracking”
Pros
Using it during my Small Business Clinic class in law school was a really positive experience. The interface felt modern and the app was user-friendly from the start. It also made tracking the time spent on different matters very simple.
Cons
I honestly didn't run into anything I disliked about the software especially since my only point of comparison for case management tools at the time was LMS+.

“Centralizes everything”
Pros
Having everything centralized is a big plus. Documents, contact details, billing, calendar items and more are all kept in one place which makes day-to-day work much more convenient.
Cons
The calendar could use more customization. It would be helpful to color-code different event types and add separate calendars for things like conference rooms or similar resources. I also wish handling evergreen retainers and trust requests within a single client invoice worked better.

“They are always available”
Pros
Whenever I need help, the customer service team is truly outstanding. Someone is always available to answer and they can usually resolve my issue right away. If not, they get me connected to the right person without any delay. The software itself is user-friendly and covers everything we need it to do. I'm very satisfied with Clio and would gladly recommend it to others.
Cons
Not happy with the reporting access setup. A user can only be given full access to every report or no report access at all. I'd really prefer to let certain team members view only their own reports without giving them visibility into the company's full financial reports.

“Well-organized file management”
Pros
Everything is laid out in an organized way which makes it simple to keep particular files and conversations in the right place.
Cons
The firm can deactivate your account without any notice so even if you successfully reset your password, it will still tell you your credentials are invalid.

“Unreliable accounting reports”
Pros
It appears to offer the same range of features as other products in this space.
Cons
The accounting reports are totally unreliable and when you raise the issue, they do not seem to care at all.

“Decent product”
Pros
It was a product I genuinely enjoyed using but after leaving my previous firm and trying a few other platforms, I realized it was missing some things and didn't hold up as well as a program like TimeSolv.
Cons
I really don't have anything bad to say about Clio because it's a very good product. That said there are other software options available that offer more for a lower price.

“Continues to get better”
Pros
We chose it almost ten years ago and it has continued to improve over time. The team has been proactive about addressing issues and the newer QuickBooks Online integration makes it a platform that is definitely worth considering.
Cons
As our firm expanded, we still had to bring in FasterSuite to handle the docketing gaps that Clio didn't fully cover.

“Billing tracking works brilliantly”
Pros
Keeping an eye on outstanding billing is very convenient and I can monitor everything without any hassle.
Cons
The latest program update caused a bit of frustration with client billing at first but the issues were eventually ironed out.

“solid option for running a business”

A really solid application for running a business and it's simple to manage.

“Versatile integrations for any firm”
Pros
One thing that really stands out is the massive library of integrations which makes it simple to bring everything together in one system. It also adapts well to different practice areas and works just as well for firms of different sizes.
Cons
Because the platform covers so much, it doesn't always feel highly specialized. I run a solo firm with just one practice area and while it absolutely handles everything I need, there are plenty of extra features I'll probably never use. Still, the pricing is fair enough that it doesn't come across as wasteful.

“all client details in one place”
Pros
Having all client information kept in a single place makes it really convenient to access whenever needed. Linking companies to different clients is also very simple.
Cons
The one thing I'd like to see improved is the email integration.

“Deadline tracking used to be good”
Pros
Entering mandatory deadlines used to be simple because the system automatically calculated the days, months and years. That was a really helpful feature but it's no longer available.
Cons
The task features have been changed in a way that makes deadline management much harder to handle properly. Clio also doesn't seem designed for managing an IP portfolio with critical deadlines.

“They keep introducing new features”
Pros
Using this software feels very user-friendly and getting around it is simple. They keep improving the app with new and better features and it also connects with plenty of other software through integrations.
Cons
Reaching customer support can be a bit frustrating. I've tried contacting them and usually end up waiting on the phone for quite a while and even then they often can't resolve the issue during the first call. It also feels like the support team is not always very familiar with the app. Thankfully, I don't need to contact them very often.

“a lot to appreciate”
Pros
It offers a lot to appreciate especially the contact management tools, how quickly files can be opened, the client dashboards and the firm dashboards for monitoring hours and receivables. The invoicing side is also very user friendly. New team members can get comfortable with the system in almost no time.
Cons
Email filing needs work. It takes far too long to process emails and trying to file them throughout the day completely breaks your workflow because a single email can sometimes take minutes. Leaving them until the end of the day is not much better since filing email can end up taking over an hour. Outlook also becomes unusable while it is happening so you are stuck finding something else to do while waiting which is incredibly inefficient. To put it in perspective, I was able to write this entire review while waiting for just two emails to file. It is extremely frustrating.

“ignored after signup”
Pros
Their sales team does a solid job of following up and staying in contact during the signup process but that communication seems to disappear once you're on board.
Cons
Support has been extremely frustrating because they seem to overlook what customers actually need. I've been dealing with a technical problem involving the Gmail plug-in for three months and from my side there has been no visible serious effort to fix it. On top of that, they would not allow me to speak with the IT developers or anyone in upper management.

“Love the calendar and billing”
Pros
Right away, the platform feels very user-friendly. The calendar works exactly the way I need it to and syncs both directions with my phone without issues. Billing and credit card processing are excellent overall, aside from one limitation. Client notes and document management are also very well done and genuinely helpful.
Cons
One thing that still frustrates me is importing emails into a client's electronic file. It either takes too many steps or I may not have it configured properly. My biggest issue with Clio is the credit card receipt process. If a client gives you a card, you run the payment and apply it to their invoice, it can take a day or two before you're able to print a receipt for them. That just doesn't match how business is usually handled. When someone pays by card, they expect a receipt immediately. They're not concerned with when the funds reach your bank.

“Popular among attorneys”
Pros
A lot of attorneys already use it which makes the sharing and collaboration features much easier to integrate.
Cons

“billing clarity and logical interface”
Pros
Clio's interface and overall layout make all the important information very accessible and updating and tracking billing details for client matters is especially simple.
Cons
Nothing specific comes to mind though the mobile app would benefit from ongoing updates so it keeps pace as the legal industry continues moving further into a digital environment.

“Takes the stress away”
Pros
Having Clio connected to my law firm bank accounts, credit card and trust account takes a lot off my plate. Since I'm a sole practitioner, it means I don't have to stress about bookkeeping or bring in someone else to handle it.
Cons
For a solo practice, Clio is probably more powerful than I actually need. I used it before at a larger firm with many attorneys and staff so I already know the system well and the account integrations are really the reason I've continued using it.
