User-friendly and easy to navigate

Pros

It's super easy to use and helps me stay organized. I can quickly search for cases and stay updated on filings.

Cons

There's an extra cost to set up alerts for your cases, which can be a bit of a drawback.

Super easy to use

Pros

Way more user friendly than PACER. The ability to search dockets by keyword is a total game changer. I also love how I can personalize email alerts for the dockets.

Cons

Sometimes it takes a while for PDF filings to load, which can be a bit frustrating.

Regular users of the API for finding legal information

Pros

The platform's coverage and querying options are extensive and the API access is a big plus for seamless integration.

Cons

More county courts coverage would be great especially in NY and Massachusetts. The ability to filter by dates in the API query would also be helpful and it would be nice to see more details in the initial query so you don't have to pull the full case just to find out it's not relevant.

Simple to conduct research

Pros

Docket Alarm makes researching ADA cases so so much easier. The layout is user-friendly and there are so many court documents available for each case, which helps me write legal commentary more efficiently and with less stress.

Cons

My only issue at first was finding older cases but the date filter helped resolve that. There is a slight learning curve but once I got the hang of it, the product was super userfriendly!

Decent value for the cost

Pros

I like the sheer breadth of information available , that is really impressive.

Cons

It's really easy to end up pulling a lot of information, which can get pretty costly on a per-document basis.

An innovative interface for conducting legal research

Pros

Interface is clean, easy to use and visually appealing. The extensive database of legal decisions is a huge resource and the filters help narrow down the search. Plus the downloaded files are always properly named.

Cons

I just wish the alerts for new case filings came a bit faster. Right now, I use Dinger Alerts, which seem to be the fastest in the industry.

Docket Alarm works fine

Pros

It has been really easy to use and there are a huge range of cases available to work with.

Cons

Legal documents sometimes are behind a paywall and I wish there was a way to notify the user of that before they click on it.

A fantastic tool for research

Pros

Docket Alarm provides great coverage of federal cases. The state coverage is more limited, but still useful when available. The expanded search ability is a huge time saver especially when searching for specific types of cases or documents.

Cons

There were some problems when downloading information but Docket Alarm's customer service was quick to respond and kept me updated on progress. They resolved the issue fast and I couldn't ask for better support.

Useful for case retrieval, but watch for duplicate charges

Pros

I don't use it that regularly but the per-document fee option is just perfect.

Cons

I keep getting double charged for the same document, which is really frustrating. I don't want to make a big deal about it but it's definitely a turn-off. I stopped using the service because of it. It would be great if the system remembered what I've already retrieved and didn't charge me again for the same document or if there's any other solution to this issue, that would be helpful. For now, I'm done with it.

helpful alerts for litigation in PTAB and other courts

Pros

I'm a paralegal at Banner Witcoff and have been using Docket Alarm for almost a year. My work focuses on the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, especially inter partes reviews and Covered Business Method reviews. Before Docket Alarm, tracking cases meant manually checking the Patent Office's website every day, which was incredibly time consuming. I had to check each case, download any new documents and send them to the team, sometimes taking over an hour. Docket Alarm changed everything. I just sign up for alerts and I get notifications whenever something new is posted. The documents come right in the email so I don't even have to log in. I can just download them and save them directly to the team folder. It's saved me hours every week and allows me to focus on more high-level tasks like research and trial support.

Cons

I don't really have much to say here.
