“good database for patent research

Pros

I find the database really simple to navigate and when you input the right search strings, the results are spot-on and reliable.

Cons

Sometimes queries take forever to run when I add complex keywords with different synonyms, it just tells me the query is too complex. You have to keep things pretty simple if you want decent results which can be frustrating when your trying to do more advanced searches.

The patent database runs incredibly fast and features an simple interface that's simple to navigate. Keyword and classification searches are simple to execute and the system pulls the most relevant results right to the top.

Cons

The database lacks a proper smart search option. While there's a semantic search feature, it doesn't perform as well as the smart search capabilities I've seen in other database systems.

Pros

What I appreciate most is the massive collection of both patented and non-patented literature available. It's really helped me get a comprehensive understanding of my research area. The built-in translation feature is incredibly user-friendly too, when you come across a patent in a different language like Chinese, the translation tool becomes invaluable.

Cons

The price point for orbit intelligence could give some users pause. Export functionality gets limited when dealing with patent numbers over 1000, you have to request them via email which is inconvenient. Performance can be frustratingly slow at times, making you wait around for results to load on the page.
