ideal for both attorneys and staff

Pros

PerfectLaw is easy to use for both attorneys and staff when managing legal documents and cases. Its case management features let our timekeepers log their hours from anywhere within the system.

Cons

One thing I would really like is a feature that lets our timekeepers whether they are attorneys or support staff record and submit their billable time directly via a mobile app on their phones or tablets.

You can count on it

Pros

Organizing emails in legal cases and keeping track of contact information is so much easier now. I love the sub categories and it is awesome how easily I can move emails from Outlook into Perfect Law.

Cons

Sometimes it can be slow due to the volume of documents in Perfect Law. It even freezes up while I am downloading documents now and then.

wide range of reporting tools

Pros

The thing I like the most is that I have access to a wide range of reporting tools and features. It's incredibly helpful because I can easily generate detailed reports, track performance and analyze data from different angles all in one place. It really helps my workflow and gives me deeper insights.

Cons

To be honest the program is not as user-friendly as I'd like it to be and I wish some parts were simpler.

everything centralized in one place

Pros

Everything I need is centralized in one place such as documents even large ones, time entries, billing and bookkeeping.

Cons

Getting accustomed to it took some effort. As the interface felt a little complex at first and I also found the report-writing capabilities rather limited.

Easy to use

Pros

The case management software is really intuitive and user friendly. Also it has a lot of customizable options which makes it easy to access everything I need.

Cons

I cannot delete old contacts or update them properly which leads to a lot of surplus contacts with outdated information.

Keeps our files organized with ease

Pros

It is really easy to categorize documents and retrieve them later. This is important for us especially when dealing with a large volume of litigation.

Cons

Absolutely fallen for this software

Pros

I've absolutely fallen for this software as it's perfect for handling daily firm work and tasks.

Cons

When I first started using it I found it really difficult to learn and adopt into our workflow.

Multiple modules save money

Pros

We have multiple modules that handle different front and back office functions. While I do need to switch between modules at times that structure allows us to save money by not paying for parts we never use!

Cons

Initially the reporting tools were really hard to get comfortable with. So i ended up having to learn the programming side and SQL but the team supported me through the process and I have now reworked about 90% of our reports so they are generated directly by the system instead of being exported and then manually recreated in another application.

Time tracking has never been simpler

Pros

I like how easy it is to use, the timer function and how simple it is to pull reports.

Cons

I wish adding new clients and matters was a little easier.

easy installation and training

Pros

The installation was pretty easy and training our users has always been a simple task too. For example, users simply click Add, pick the client and matter number and start entering their time right away. The downside is that other providers seem to offer mobile apps for phones and iPads that let attorneys capture time more conveniently while on the go which matters a lot because you don't want to lose billable minutes. We only use the back-end version of PerfectLaw and I know some front-office features started rolling out last year when we considered adding that module so our experience is limited to the backend interface.

Cons

It is lacking in user-friendliness. While it has many billing features you'd expect in my experience it's not easy to navigate and it doesn't feel pleasant or visually friendly to use.

My go-to software as an IP paralegal

Pros

Well I loved being able to see the entire history of a case in chronological order from emails to inventor details and the timing of an Office Action from the USPTO. It really helped me stay on top of filing needs and kept me organized. Plus the docketing system is easy to use though I say that as someone who did not have system privileges to add new docket entries.

Cons

The system is not very intuitive overall but once I get the hang of it, it is very user-friendly.
