“Easy tracking”
Pros
Tracking time spent on a project is incredibly simple and I really appreciate that the timer remembers the exact time of day it was active. It makes staying organized so much easier
Cons
Removing active timers isn't the easiest thing to figure out.

“Daily essential with a slight learning curve”
Pros
As a solicitor, I use this time recording app daily. It's really functional and now they even have a mobile version along with the desktop one. I've figured out some shortcuts, like nicknaming files, temporary timers, and repeat timers, which make things quicker. Honestly, I couldn't do my job without this software.
Cons
It takes some time to get used to this software. It definitely needs training, usually from someone tech-savvy. The design feels a bit outdated but it gets the job done. I don't usually use the mobile version, but I've heard it works pretty well.

“Monthly View Helpful but Search Could Improve”
Pros
The monthly view with all entries is helpful. But it would be awesome if there was an option to see everything on one page or across multiple pages, which would make it way easier to search back in time.
Cons
It's really tough to find the right client or name when I'm trying to make an entry. The activity type feels useless, most people just repeat the same thing to MIS. It slows everything down. Clients really just care about a short description of the work done. Plus, there's always downtime.

“Good desktop, App needs improvement”
Pros
My company uses Carpe Diem for time entry. It's very simple to get started with, plus its accessible online once I log into our internal portal. The desktop interface is simple to navigate, and I love the built-in spell check.
Cons
The phone app isn't super easy to use. For example, Carpe Diem doesn't let you submit entries without running spellcheck first. I've always had trouble running the spellcheck on the app. Also once the entries are submitted, there's no way to recall them. This is frustrating because sometimes we don't have a matter code at the time and need to book it under a temporary code. It's hard to edit the matter code, so we end up having to recreate the entry and reverse the old one.

“Transforming workflows but needs stronger tools”
Pros
ALB really brought us up to speed with modern processes. The old system made it hard to build workflows, so changes were hardly ever made. But now with the pdfDocs integration, running paperless files is totally possible. Print volumes have dropped a lot.
Cons
Every software has its compromises, and this one is no different, especially since it covers so many areas. The development tools could be stronger and the way addresses are handled feels a bit complicated. That said, the main purpose of the software is to help Fee Earners and support staff deliver services to clients, and it does that really well. It's not Visual Studio, but I've seen people mess up even the simplest address databases, even with good training, so it might not be my favorite, but I get that it wasn't designed for fun. My biggest issue is that some errors seem pretty severe. Other software would catch these errors in a gentler way. But users adapt to it and Advanced is good at monitoring and fixing these issues as the software evolves.

“Simple and Reliable, Needs Easier Navigation”
Pros
This product does exactly what it;s supposed to. It provides a simple way to input all the necessary info for legal matters and it's reliable with minimal crashes
Cons
While it's functional, the software feels outdated and can be buggy. The interface requires a lot of clicks to complete tasks, and the timers could be more user-friendly. It would also be beneficial to have quicker access to frequently used features and an easier way to quickly enter and later edit data for finalization.

“Efficient layout but missing key features”
Pros
Carpe Diem gets the job done, but it's missing some of the features that more advanced time entry programs have. I like that I can see all my time in monthly, weekly, and daily formats and it's easy to add time entries directly from the monthly calendar.
Cons
I really don't like that there's no integrated timer to transfer time directly into Carpe Diem. Also, when I close Carpe Diem, it stops the timers completely. Plus, the buttons and features aren't very intuitive, making it kind of a pain to use.

“Effective but inefficient for time entry”
Pros
Time entry isn't the most exciting task but it's necessary in most law firms. You need software that helps timekeepers input and process their time effectively and efficiently. I've been using different versions of Carpe Diem for about 15 years, and while it's effective, it really falls short on the efficiency side.
Cons
The interface is pretty complicated and makes time entry slow and inefficient for timekeepers. It could really use dropdowns for the 10 or 20 most billed clients/matters and the most common task and activity codes.
