“The best legal billing software

Smokeball is the best legal billing software I have ever worked with. It was simple to learn and feels very basic. Creating my own custom documents has also given my productivity a huge boost.

Cons

My main suggestion would be an alert for when client accounts are at or near a negative balance.

Let me tell you that the billing system can be a bit confusing until you get familiar with it.

Nothing at all. Once we learn how it works, everything runs perfectly smoothly.

It can sometimes be slow and lag when we are trying to open documents.

The program freezes up occasionally and some forms are not quite right for my needs. But I have submitted requests to the help desk to get them fixed.

The automatic time tracking is a huge help, the document automation is fantastic and the new AI, Archie looks like it will be a real game-changer. Basically it removes a lot of the stress and hard work from practicing law and makes my life much simpler. The support team is also amazing.

Cons

Well the mobile app does not come close to being as good as the desktop version.

It almost has too many features. So I would love to have a simple list of tutorials, sorted by practice area to help me focus on the most useful tools.

I find it challenging that I can't limit users from accessing or saving emails and other sensitive information.

It's frustrating that when an email is sent to multiple people in our office, both emails get saved in the client matter. I wish it would only save one to make locating emails a lot easier.
