Affordable, easy to use for solo practitioners

Pros

For just $199 annually, this is incredibly affordable for me. The interface is easy and doesn't require much of a learning curve. It's ideal for solo practitioners like me or small law firms who need to track billable hours, manage expenses and handle invoicing all in one place.

Cons

From my perspective the lack of a mobile app for iPhone or Android is disappointing, though the website does work well on mobile devices.

setup simple and user-friendly

Pros

What really impresses me is how simple and user-friendly the setup is for every client and project. Time entry, invoicing and payment recording all flow smoothly without any headaches. Honestly it's just a brilliant program that makes my work so much easier.

Cons

There is truly nothing about this program that I don't love.

Pleased with easy use and support

Pros

I am really pleased with how easy it is to use, its reliability and the helpful customer support.

Cons

For sure there are capabilities missing that would make this tool competitive with the more feature-rich practice and billing management suites used by larger firms. That said the software is clearly aimed at smaller practices and attorneys who are just getting started which fits my situation perfectly. So I am really glad I switched to it when I began working on my own. I have paired it with other legal-focused platforms over time but I consistently return to this tool because it reliably captures my billable time and lets me produce polished, professional invoices without fuss.

easy to use with instant support

Pros

Using Time59 is really easy to use and whenever I have a question their support person responds instantly which is almost unheard of these days and they always provide an answer.

Cons

I honestly have no complaints about this software. It works perfectly for a sole practitioner or a small firm like mine. What I love most is the company's support team as they pick up the phone right away and always know the answer. That level of service is unbeatable particularly for attorneys who do not have an in-house IT staff to lean on.

Quickly set up clients and invoices

Pros

This lets me quickly set up clients with multiple projects, assign different hourly rates to each job, keep detailed records of time and expenses and easily email invoices as well as accept clients payments online.

Cons

Nothing major but I wish it included a built-in time tracker so I could start timing when a project begins or when I start work on a client's case, stop it at the end and then add a description to log the entry.

Loved it after one day of testing

Pros

Having used Time59 for just one day, I can only speak about the parts I tested but that brief time has already made me more enthusiastic about how the app will simplify my daily routine! What first grabbed me was being able to sign up for a 30-day trial at no cost, without talking to a salesperson. Plus being able to try exactly what the ads promised was refreshing. One feature that feels like a blessing and dramatically eased my case-management work in a single day is the ability to add a Client and then create Projects under that client, without having to open a separate case for every task. In contrast with MyCase, I had to start a new case for each individual task. That method became extremely confusing and messed up billing badly! At times I literally had to delete everything and start over. I'm already looking forward to exploring more.

Cons

So far I have not come across anything about this software that bothers me, except I am not sure it's possible to create firm-specific documents within the platform. At least I don't believe that feature exists. I have reached out to support to clarify and am currently waiting for their reply.

creates invoices with transparency and accountability

Pros

I've noticed creating invoices and handling billing can be done in moments that too with clear transparency and strong accountability

Cons

When I am dealing with lots of clients and billings, it starts to feel a bit bulky and I'd really appreciate a better historical invoice search to pull up past records more quickly

Takes time to learn but very effective

Pros

Like most programs of this kind, it takes some time to learn but once I got the hang of it, it's been a very effective tool. A few features felt counterintuitive to my way of working but the company's representative has always been quick and helpful with email replies. I also like that the pricing is fair, unlike competitors who charge an arm and a leg.

Cons

The process of setting up new projects and configuring timekeepers is somewhat confusing and awkward to navigate.

indispensable and budget-friendly tool

Pros

I consider this an indispensable, budget-friendly tool that any small, cost-conscious firm should seriously consider. Also it is incredibly simple to use and I taught myself the basics in minutes. Let me tell you it's useful as soon as you enter a single client. The system centers on Clients and Projects which are flexible but I mainly use them for additional users. Plus I find it far more user friendly than many pricier alternatives such as create a project for a client, assign a rate and you're off and running. I set up other team members as Projects under each Client and each new matter is entered as a separate client. The overall functionality is excellent too as it handles everything the big-name systems cover for time tracking, billing and collections. It also syncs with LawPay, supports direct email invoicing and includes trust account management. I also like the free phone support which has been genuinely helpful. With a few small adjustments, this product gives you almost everything you need. I actually see the fact that it doesn't sync with QuickBooks as a blessing as it avoids unnecessary complexity. You can export multiple reports to Excel based on your own categories for accounting and I use it to track firm expenses and reimbursements by creating extra accounts. There's a free app for staff to enter time if you don't want to give them full access just ensure they're set up as Projects under the relevant Clients. For an affordable alternative, I think it's terrific!

Cons

There is nothing specific that I dislike. And I am hopeful that with time it become the best tool around.

couldn't find a better deal for the price

Pros

When I was searching for something that could produce invoices and track every case expense, I couldn't find a better deal for the price. Over the past five years, Time59 has probably done more to advance my practice than any other tool. It handles everything I throw at it such as trust accounting, contingency calculations, flat and modified flat fees, multiple timekeepers and rates. You simply name it, it supports it. It even connects with my LawPay account.

Cons

As with any software you should try out the different features to see what they do and how they'll appear on the finished versions of your bills. From my experience it is not hard to get the hang of it as I figured things out fairly quickly after experimenting a bit.

Got comfortable in a few hours

Pros

It only took me a few hours to get comfortable with every feature. Once I set up the preferences and configured our Time59 users, logging time became so simple and I couldn't believe how many billable hours the office had been losing. Overall I am really impressed with this software and the clear difference it's made in our daily operations.

Cons

I have no complaints. The software is easy to use and comes packed with useful functions. And I'd gladly suggest it to any attorney wanting to streamline their billing processes and boost accuracy.

user-friendly and cost-effective cloud software

Pros

Time59 is a user-friendly cloud software package that costs less than many other products but still gets the job done.

Cons

It seems a bit too basic for small firms that have multiple users because it seems intended primarily for a solo attorney.
