Free and very easy for students

Pros

I am pleased that the platform is free, remarkably easy to learn, readily comprehensible for students and administered through an simple interface.

Cons

Although several features operate acceptably, there are certain functions that perform poorly and I personally have been unable to make the email notification system function properly despite repeated attempts.

Active Community, Easy to Use

Pros

Once I grasped the way Chamilo is structured, I found it easy and fast to operate and to learn the platform which provides a vast array of configuration options to suit various professional profiles or otherwise to use effectively.

Cons

Chamilo is developed by a large and active community, I noticed it does not receive any help for its development. The economic aid comes from the official network of service providers who guarantee the sustainability of the project.

Friendly, Flexible and Unlimited

Pros

what I value most are the wide-ranging options it provides to create a welcoming and educational environment for learners since the platform supports a pedagogical approach that feels both accessible and instructive. Another major convenience is the unlimited user allowance which lets every learner keep an individual account and freely update their profile information, download earned certificates and interact within the platform's social areas without incurring additional fees. Moreover, the system's high degree of flexibility gives us considerable latitude to introduce new courses and tailor the virtual campus to the specific requirements of each client, among other customizations.

Cons

Regarding the tutor-side experience, I feel there is room to enhance the reporting features for students, particularly by enabling reports to be sorted according to criteria such as completion progress, total hours logged, the employer or company affiliation and similar fields which would align oversight. It would also be highly practical from my perspective, to have the capacity to trigger targeted communications grounded in those same data points for example messages to learners who have failed to attain a given percentage of course progress, to those who have completed their programs or to individuals who still have outstanding tasks pending and so on.

Easy Setup, Inflexible Design

Pros

I've found the installation process to be quite easy, producing only a handful of minor issues out of the box which makes initial deployment relatively painless for me and my team. Additionally the small set of features that come pre-integrated are reasonably coherent and work together in a moderately simple way, so the core experience feels stable and predictable without requiring extensive tweaking.

Cons

However the platform's limited ability to be customized is a major frustration for me because it tends to force me into an all-or-nothing approach with its many e-learning modules rather than allowing selective activation tailored to individual teachers or specific instructional systems. While the codebase is flexible enough that I can alter the appearance and behavior if I have developer resources, that requirement effectively places customization out of reach for non-technical users which is a significant barrier in practice. I also feel there is a large, neglected opportunity in design and user experience ,the visual language and interaction patterns feel frozen in an older era, almost like early Windows 95 or the first Mac releases and there seems to be little appetite within the project to modernize or invest in UX improvements. The educational tools themselves are well thought out, but in my experience only someone who understands how they were originally designed can configure them properly from the limited documentation about their intended use in corporate or academic contexts. Worst of all, the Chamilo community appears reluctant to produce explanatory resources or to develop clear guidance about why and how tools should be configured, so from my perspective institutional adoption becomes very difficult unless organizations are prepared to hire specialists for a platform that is neither fully proven nor widely accepted.

Efficient, fast tool with great support

Pros

It is exceptionally easy to operate, its simple design allowed me to quickly master enrolling students and configuring courses or exams and whenever I've encountered technical issues the support team has responded promptly and efficiently every time.

Cons

I would like to see several adjustments to the interface, particularly increased layout customization options to better tailor the appearance and organization to my needs.
