“Fantastic app for speaking practice

Pros

I make my English students use ELSA all the time. The instant feedback on pronunciation really makes it stand out for me. There's always a big gap between what we think we're saying and what actually comes out when learning a new language. This tool helps my students see exactly how close or far they are from getting the pronunciation right.

Cons

The app doesn't always seem to recognize different English accents which is really frustrating. Even my native speaker friends get marked down on vowels and word endings because it doesn't take natural pronunciation variations into account.

It's a bit pricey for what you get but overall, it does what it promises.

The stories feel too short for what you're paying and the pricing seems a bit steep. Also, there's no option for local payment methods which is frustrating since not all students have access to international debit or credit cards.

What I like the most is how it catches my mispronunciations and won't let me continue until I get it right. Even the free version is so thorough and has tons of customization options for how you want to learn.

Honestly, I can't think of any downsides. This app has been perfect for improving my skills and giving me the practice I need.
