Transforming classroom management with LanSchool

Pros

LanSchool enables teachers to take control of students screens to provide guidance or offer assistance. Teachers can share their screens with students, it makes it easier to present lessons or collaborate on projects. Also it allows teachers to monitor students' activities ensuring they stay on task. Teachers can also distribute files or resources to students quickly, it saves time and streamlining the lesson process.

Cons

Some users have encountered technical issues with the software such as slow performance and compatibility problems with certain devices. Concerns about privacy have also been raised as the software enables teachers to monitor students' devices and online activities. Some users also have mentioned that the software can be difficult to set up and manage, particularly for those who are not very tech-savvy. Customization options are limited and the software may not meet the needs of advanced users.

Great for testing centers, with some quirks

Pros

We appreciate features like website white/blacklists and USB blocking. It's great that you can set up channels to isolate different physical testing sites.

Cons

The organization of machines could be better. The quality and speed of the images are not the best and only one person can remotely access a station at a time, which can be frustrating when you need IT support.

Need to fix bugs

Pros

Lanschool is ideal for a computer lab environment. It's simple in its functionality and purpose.

Cons

It is quite buggy. Some computers show up on the list initially but others require multiple attempts to register in the settings. It was not set up to manage a centralized location for each computer lab so when we made a network change, it was a hassle to adjust settings in every individual classroom.

Easy and effective

Pros

It is very user friendly. You can quickly check what students are doing on their laptops and blank their screens when necessary. If you want to limit the websites your students can visit, it's easy to do.

Cons

There's a slight delay between what students see on their screens and what appears on LanSchool. Some students have figured out ways to bypass it and unlock their screens.

Really helpful for teachers

Pros

I really love LanSchool. Teachers can't always monitor every student but this tool allows me to focus on small groups while staying informed about what the rest of the class is doing. It provides pictures of each student's screen so I can easily scroll through and see if everyone is on task. For students who are not, you can message them, push the correct website to their screen, cut off access to other websites or pause their screen to make an announcement. You can do this for individual students or for the whole class.

Cons

I have no complaints about it. It's a very simple website but it does exactly what I need.

Remote access made easy for schools

Pros

LanSchool is a fantastic, easy to use remote access software for schools, making it simple to monitor both student and staff computers. It's great for both teachers and administrators, giving teachers limited access to view and moderate students.

Cons

While this doesn't impact the functionality, the outdated design could discourage new users from trying it out.

Top observation tool for Windows systems

Pros

If you have a Windows machine and need to monitor what your students are doing, this is the best solution.

Cons

The software's speed is directly tied to the network and host machine. If your machines are older or slower, it might not perform well.

Good tool but students found a way to tackle it

Pros

LanSchool offers a platform for monitoring student laptops in a 1:1 environment. It allows teachers to view, take over and adjust student computer screens when everything functions properly, which is crucial in a 1:1 school setting.

Cons

On both MacBook and Chromebook OSs, students are very good at finding ways to bypass the system. For instance toggling their WiFi connection or closing their laptop can make the teacher lose access to their device. The teacher can only fix this by rebooting the entire class. It's a big issue and the software can be slow and clunky at times.

Super simple classroom management software

Pros

The console is nicely laid out for our end users. It's super easy to set up and the issues we have had haven't been major.

Cons

This software can be buggy. One issue is that all PC screens can be controlled from the Windows login screen except for a few. Usually uninstalling and reinstalling the client fixes the problem.

The best fit for school computer labs

Pros

It is incredible, with features that enhance student teacher interaction in the classroom. It's great that students can not remove the software without the proper installation file. We can remotely control computers, lock them to get students' attention, share the teacher's screen, restrict or monitor internet access, remotely shut down computers, run programs on students' computers, send quizzes and collect answers from students. These features make the classroom smarter and more efficient.

Cons

Its price is a bit high for schools in South Asia. I hope they will add support for Linux distributions in the future. Screen sharing works well but the video can lag a bit.

Why I love managing classrooms with LanSchool

Pros

LanSchool is fantastic for managing students and their technology. It's a huge time saver and helps keep students focused. I love being able to show my screen on their computers, control their screens when needed and mass-send programs to prep computers (which saves tons of time).

Cons

It is expensive and not many schools can afford it. I will be sad to leave it behind when I change jobs and I hope it becomes more accessible.

Effective computer monitoring with LanSchool

Pros

After the initial setup, LanSchool did exactly what I needed. I can view student screens, launch websites and apps and trigger shutdowns and reboots from the teacher console.

Cons

The whole setup complicated when I tried to incorporate Chromebooks but that may have changed since I used the program three years ago.

Make managing your classroom a breeze with LanSchool

Pros

With a classroom full of computers, it's hard to monitor each student. That's where LanSchool comes in. We can monitor what students are doing from the teacher's computer, lock their screens to focus their attention on the main board, share the teacher's screen with students to demonstrate or present something and control their internet access. If needed, we can remotely control student computers. Students can't remove the software without the credentials provided during installation.

Cons

When casting the teacher's screen or remotely controlling a student's computer there is some lag. A mobile app for remote monitoring would make this tool much more convenient.
