Enjoyable christmas tree reports

Pros

Being able to pull testing items across different DOK levels is really useful and the Christmas Tree reports are something I genuinely enjoy using.

Cons

There really isn't anything I dislike about it. I'm happy with everything it offers.

Too complicated to learn

Pros

With enough time to learn every feature, I might end up liking it more. The problem is I just do not have the time for that much training. It really needs to be more user-friendly. Even after 2 years of using it, I still cannot easily pull up class results to see which questions students missed the most.

Cons

A reasonably intelligent person should not need this long to figure out how to use the system. Even setting up the trackers is far from obvious and involves way too many steps.

Instant feedback for students

Pros

One thing that really works well with it is that teachers can build their own formative assessments. Students get immediate feedback and it makes monitoring learner progress incredibly simple.

Cons

At times, it can be a bit challenging to locate assessments for certain skills. That said, schools should really make use of the professional development available so teachers are fully trained.

Helpful classroom warm-up tool

Pros

Starting class with this program has worked really well for my students. It's a helpful way to warm them up at the beginning of class, review material and introduce new topics. I also use it to model and teach test-taking skills which has been very useful.

Cons

Navigation on the website can be a little confusing when you're not used to it. Assigning assessments to several classes also takes more time than it should since you have to go into each class separately to get the code.

Slow, confusing

Pros

Once you finally track down what you need, there's actually a wealth of valuable information there, with useful data and meaningful analytics.

Cons

This software feels like it was built by someone brilliant with data but with no sense of organization. The site is unbelievably slow, honestly one of the slowest I've ever used. Trying to locate relevant information feels like digging through a packed, chaotic attic with no system in place. Even after using it for two years, assigning tests to students is still confusing every single time. This isn't something that can be fixed with a few small adjustments here and there. The entire platform needs a complete overhaul. It's awful. I'd rather hike through a snake-filled jungle than deal with navigating this site.

Hard to locate tests

Pros

Assessments can be uploaded for students to complete online and the system handles the grading automatically so teachers do not have to score the tests themselves.

Cons

Trying to locate a specific quiz or test after students have already taken it can be pretty confusing at times. Another issue is that when a student is enrolled in two classes within the same subject, the mastery data overlaps between both teachers. For example, a student in a reading class focused on ELA standards and also in a grade-level ELA class will have mastery information combined in the same area. That means both teachers can see the same data which creates a lot of confusion. On top of that, tests no longer support audio for students who need the questions read aloud. Because of that, teachers have to read the test themselves which takes up their time during testing.

Simple for elementary students

Pros

It's very functional and simple to use especially for elementary students and it does a really good job of letting you monitor their progress as they work.

Cons

logging in takes a few tries and it can run slowly around midterm when lots of teachers are using the same server.

Top-notch support

Pros

The standards-based progress reports are really solid and the support team is better than with any other product I've used.

Cons

Since the platform does so much, it takes some training and time to get comfortable with everything.
