One thing that really works well with it is how it breaks down advanced topics in a way that makes them much easier to understand. On top of that the workspace feature lets you code alongside the instructor which really helps reinforce what you're learning through actual practice. The content is refreshed regularly so it stays aligned with current information and changes in the field. I also appreciate the extra learning resources included in the teachers notes. The community support is excellent too with several ways to get help and connect. I genuinely love it!!

Honestly I don't have any complaints. It has helped me connect with many developers across the company and improve my skills while working toward a career in tech and I feel it gives me a much better chance of getting there than learning on some other platforms.

The only bump I ran into was getting Ubuntu installed on my Windows PC but a teacher on Slack reached out and helped me sort it out within half an hour.

Getting into tech felt much more approachable with this software. I really value that the platform covers everything from Computer Literacy to App Development because having that range in one place made me feel like I actually had a place in the industry. That meant a lot in a space where imposter syndrome is everywhere. While teaching myself to code here I never felt out of place or ashamed of how little I knew at the beginning. The lessons clicked for me then and even now (3 years later as a fully self taught and fully employed Senior Front End Developer) I'm still learning and growing with this platform!

The one feature I've consistently wished it had is a stronger set of practice problems. The quiz style checks between videos are helpful but a full library of practice problems that you could filter by topic would be amazing. If you know edabit.com that's basically what I mean, their whole focus is practice problems and I absolutely love that concept! If Treehouse could somehow acquire them and combine the two platforms, I'd be thrilled. Edabit can be buggy but I really like the idea behind it and the UI.

Back when I was starting out with programming this was one of the first platforms I discovered. The site has a very clean, polished layout and the videos are put together really well with thorough explanations that make the topics easier to follow.

Cons

At times the lesson scope and even the tech degree felt a little limited. I went through the Python development track and while it gave me solid fundamentals it still felt like it could have gone further and covered more.

Pros

Across more than seven years my team has relied on this software as a supplemental training resource and it has continued to hold our attention. The platform covers a wide range of web application development topics for different skill levels which has been really valuable. The learning experience feels polished and the interface stays out of the way so it's simple to jump back in and continue where you stopped. From a manager's perspective the visibility into each team member's progress on assigned content is practical and well thought out. The community forum is also active and consistently helpful.

Cons

The only real issue we ran into was the lack of a solid process for annual invoicing though that appears to have been resolved recently which is good to see. Like any learning platform there are bound to be some gaps in coverage or a bit of outdated material here and there. Still they have done a very good job of keeping the content up to date so it hasn't been a significant concern for us.

This is an excellent place to begin if you want to build a strong base in web development. The Techdegree also has you work on some really solid projects throughout the process which adds a lot to the learning experience. On top of that the Slack support group was extremely helpful. Responses came quickly and the community was very encouraging and supportive.

Honestly I didn't run into any real downsides. As a starting point this is a really strong option.

A big plus is the mix of project based tutorials and Slack support from the dedicated student success team which makes the learning experience feel more guided and practical.

Some modules still include outdated information so there are times when you have to work through content that no longer feels fully current.

The self paced format was convenient and a few of the teaching assistants actually gave useful help. It also cost less than most traditional bootcamps which was one of the better parts of the program.

A lot of the material was outdated so I had to downgrade components just to keep up with the lessons then teach myself the current way of doing things afterward. Parts of the curriculum also felt rushed and patched together like they were added as a quick fix instead of being properly updated. Most of the teaching assistants were not very helpful and some of the projects felt pretty weak so I left most of them out of my portfolio. On top of that the "Techdegree" name is frustrating. It looks like a typo and employers have no idea what it means so I end up having to explain that it's basically a bootcamp every time.

The instructors explain concepts in a really clear and approachable way which made the lectures enjoyable to follow. I also really enjoyed the Techdegree projects because they were challenging in a good way and I learned a lot by working through them.

The only thing I'd love to see added is a React Techdegree.
