“great adaptability”
Pros
It can be customized to fit a wide variety of applications which makes it useful across different setups and use cases.
Cons
Working with USB devices is where it really becomes frustrating, to the point that using them feels more like a hassle than a benefit. For example, we have a 4-inch digital indicator that sends data through a USB output cable instead of a serial RS232 port like the ones we use for our resistance meters. Since the software is COM-port based instead of identifying plugins and drivers by the device name, every time the computer restarts it is basically a gamble whether Windows will assign the same COM port number again. There are third-party tools that can help manage this but in today's environment more and more equipment communicates through USB 2.0 and 3.0 instead of RS232. That said, most of our devices still offer both connection options or use a cable similar to a Mitutoyo 10-pin.

“Powerful and highly customizable”
Pros
Right from the start, the software feels very accessible and easy to use, while still being extremely powerful and highly customizable.
Cons
There are a few additions that would make it even better, like a quick grouping option for capability charts by trace field. The report writer can also be a bit tricky to work with although it's very powerful once you get used to it.

“user friendly”
Pros
Overall it doesn't take much time to get used to using it and feels very user friendly.
Cons
A frustrating downside is the planner wizard. You have to assign each individual to every standard one at a time instead of applying them all at once under a single blanket standard. That makes the process really time-consuming.

“Genuinely improved our work”
Pros
GainSeeker has become an essential part of the day to day decision-making in our manufacturing operations. Its ability to quickly slice and analyze data helps us stay on course. On top of the software itself, the support we've received over the past 10 years has been truly exceptional.
Cons
One thing that would make it better is if data points with notes were automatically shown with a different marker on a control chart.

“Powerful process insights”
Pros
Being able to drill down into process data and pinpoint where variation is coming from has been incredibly valuable. The technicians and training team are also extremely knowledgeable especially when it comes to industrial rollouts.
Cons
The Python scripting side did take some time to learn.

“Easy data imports”
Pros
Across a wide range of requests from different users, this software has handled just about everything I've needed. Up to this point, we haven't run into a situation where we couldn't satisfy a user's request. Being able to bring in data from Excel and MS Access for statistical work has also been a really valuable feature.
Cons
Like most software it does take a bit of time to fully understand from a developer's perspective. That said, it stays very user friendly as long as the developer keeps the end user in mind while building the template. The trickiest part for me was figuring out when to use single quotes versus double quotes in the template.

“A huge shoutout to the support team”
Pros
Between SPC, DMS/Scrap, OEE and the added ability to replace paper documents through the PC Collect application, this software covers a lot of ground. It can also be configured for just about any measuring routine or device interface which makes it very flexible. Another big plus is that Quality Groups are able to roll it out and manage it with very little help from Corporate IT. On top of that the support from the Hertzler team has been excellent.
Cons
The Dynamic Reports application is very capable when it comes to building and tailoring reports but getting the most out of it takes an extra level of skill, much like working with Crystal Reports.
