“powerful automation and customization
Pros
There's a lot to appreciate about RMDB. The biggest advantages we've seen are: * Full data warehouse - we were able to connect data from as many as four different software platforms into one central repository. The time we saved by no longer retyping data into spreadsheets, checking multiple printed reports and manually building production schedules was enormous. * User interface - the interface is highly customizable and anyone with experience using spreadsheet tools like MS Excel was able to learn it quickly and start being productive within minutes. * Process automation - by using queries, strong database functionality and timely reporting, it lets you turn processes that would normally involve many steps or even multiple systems into a single click from the process menu. * Customization - we were able to tailor many of the reports so they looked exactly like what users were already familiar with receiving. That made the transition in the production environment very easy. For example, one of our more complex scheduling reports used to take up to 16 hours a week and after RMDB was put in place it dropped to less than 3. * People - the support and guidance we've received from RMDB has been invaluable. They worked closely with us through the automation and testing of our critical processes to make sure the implementation was successful and they clearly cared about helping us succeed with the product.
Cons
Since RMDB matched our needs so well, it's honestly hard to point to any major downside. If I had to mention one, it would be that when we first bought it, the documentation wasn't very detailed. That said this has changed dramatically over the last 10 years. And even back then, whatever was missing in the documentation was more than made up for by the RMDB support team through their knowledge, advice and hands-on help.

“flexible system handles complexity
Pros
After working with an ERP package from one of the big-name vendors, RMDB has been a much better fit for us. The other system took far more labor to implement, cost a lot more to maintain and felt much more difficult in the way it could be used. RMDB stands out with its modular Excel import capability which has been very useful for our workflow. We manufacture complex products and it handles multiple sub-assemblies, purchased components and a skilled workforce with different specialties really well.
Cons
Like any software getting it implemented still takes work and the process tends to expose internal gaps that need to be addressed before rollout. One thing I would have liked is a set of prebuilt Excel templates already mapped to RMDB to make those needs easier to anticipate. That said their support has been strong enough that they've basically worked through this with us during the implementation sessions.
