Simple but nothing too extraordinary

Pros

Tenant reports were mostly easy to understand but getting some of the reports was not always as easy as I expected.

Cons

Handling bank reconciliations and closing out the month is where I feel like a lot of improvements need to be made.

Better to stay away from it

Pros

One thing I like is that the financial data provided is very reliable and accurate.

Cons

Skyline does not offer much support anymore and is not keeping up with current industry demands. Plus an update a few years back broke our CAM reconciliations because it was not tested well. That problem was never fixed and we spent a lot of time trying to work around it.

Using it for over 2 decades and quite pleased with it!

Pros

The general ledger history stays saved forever and the good thing is that with multiple years of data, I can track how expenses have changed over time which is amazing.

Cons

When the platform changed a lot in 2019 it took me some time to get used to it. Also the menu is not as simple or easy to use as it was before and even though they added a favorites option, it does not really fix the issue. There are just too many layers to click through to get where we want to.

Support they offer is the absolute best

Pros

I have only been using this software for about a year and it is pretty easy to handle daily tasks with it. Since I am new to this kind of work, I have made some major mistakes but my customer rep is amazing. As she keeps me calm and helps me work through every problem without stress. Honestly she is the best.

Cons

Well I wish there was an app that my property manager could use out in the field.

Just fine could be better

Pros

It is simple to use, user-friendly and since it is not cloud-based so I don't have to worry about internet issues.

Cons

Creating a new property involves way too many steps which annoys me a lot.

I recommend it!

Pros

Two things make this software really easy to work with which are its user-friendliness and the excellent support team. As whenever I have had a question or problem usually due to my own lack of knowledge they have always responded quickly.

Cons

There are small problems like I have to switch screens just to change the GL date when entering an invoice. Though it is not a huge problem since it does not happen often but it would be nicer if it was simpler.

Longtime and happy user

Pros

Using Skyline I can easily manage all my properties, keep track of tenant, vendor and property info, pay bills and invoice tenants that too without an issue.

Cons

Sometimes the character limit on certain fields is too short and cannot be adjusted. For example some email addresses of ours don't fit in the space allowed.

Good but not perfect!

Pros

I love that I can just click a transaction right from a report and instantly see its general ledger coding and details.

Cons

Voiding checks one by one is a way too long process. So I think it would be great if there were a way to void multiple checks at once.

Simply amazing

Pros

SKYLINE software is easy to navigate and customizable for our different business needs. Also it offers a lot of add-on modules and works well with other software.

Cons

The system can time out occasionally which is frustrating and I'd really prefer a more advanced budgeting tool as for now it is quite expensive.

Loyal user since 1997

Pros

It is simple to use from browsing occupant details, attaching files, to searching for data quickly. Overall it makes my daily job stress free.

Cons

Every update seems to come with its own glitch though that's the case for most software. But the good thing is that the IT support is very accessible and always helpful when I am in need.

Using this is pretty enjoyable

Pros

I first started using Skyline about four years ago and at that time I had never worked with the software or database before. I contacted my Skyline representative, who recommended signing up for their training classes. He also suggested I use the Skyline Help line. During the first few months I called the Help Line at least twice a week and they always got back to me within a day. The team has been quick to respond, friendly and very knowledgeable from the start. Plus the support felt like having a personal tutor. I even requested the same person every time I called and she would return my calls. After about a year I was comfortable running the database on my own though I still reach out occasionally when I have questions or need assistance. I am now using the 2020 version and honestly find it enjoyable to use. Also the option to work with multiple screens really helps me be more efficient. Overall it is a solid system with lots of features. I also very much like the reports as they are easy to use and I can export them as Excel sheets or PDFs to combine with other reports I prepare.

Cons

Though I took the training classes but still needed help once I started using the database on my own. As it felt overwhelming at first but my bookkeeping background did make some parts easier to understand.

Does the job but has a few problems

Pros

Skyline is an easy to use property management system that handles the important tasks really well. Also compared to other platforms its pricing is quite affordable. Overall I would say it is an excellent choice for businesses with basic needs. Plus the good thing is that the team consistently updates and improves the software.

Cons

It can be tough and clunky to work with. And if you want to customize anything, you will need extra tools like Crystal Reports or Cumulus. Also the file system is not SQL-based which I feel like is a major limitation.
