Real-time fabric tracking wins

Pros

Keeping cutting quantities updated in real time during laying has been very useful when putting together cut plans. Overall it has cut down the time our staff spends sorting materials by shade and shrinkage. It also helps us make better use of end-bits which reduces fabric waste. On top of that, every report we need is available and being able to use the system to track every inch of fabric or each roll is a big advantage.

Cons

Licensing fees are quite expensive especially considering how many employees on our side need access to the reports. It also requires a lot of discipline from the team particularly during the implementation stage, since success depends heavily on people following the process correctly. Another downside is the lack of support for integration with third-party systems.

Recommended from my side

Pros

Even without much planning experience, putting together your own cut plan is very doable. On top of that, the software lets our team monitor all cutting execution in real time which is a big help.

Cons

It really depends on our team staying disciplined especially during execution. If people are not consistent about following the process, the software can easily end up being underused or missed.

good for fabric sorting

Pros

Using this made us pay closer attention to fabric waste and where we could reduce it. Overall it has also shortened the time our team spends sorting fabrics by shade and shrinkage.

Cons

There was some training required for our shopfloor cut leaders before they got comfortable with the software although it stopped being an issue once they understood it. It would still help if the system were simplified further especially when encoding roll lists. I'd really like to see an option to import that from the packing list, along with an overwrite feature so specific roll information can be corrected. Another gap is the lack of a dedicated captioned window for rejected cut panels so we've had to record that information somewhere else.

Live insights into cutting floor

Pros

Creating lay plans and cut plans is very easy. Checking reports is simple as well and the cutting floor data is captured in real time.

Cons

Report viewing feels too restricted because access is limited for users and in our case only one person can monitor it. We use an ERP system so we need more users to be able to access the reports we need without having to pay too much for it.

Fabric tracking that really helps

Pros

Having access to all the reports I need to pull has been very helpful. It's also a big plus that the system now lets us track every inch of the fabric or roll which makes monitoring much better.

Cons

There's still some confusion when reserving fabric. For example, if the system only requires 60 meters and we reserve 65 meters, it still marks it as a partial allocation. That makes it unclear why it continues asking for an additional roll when the needed 60 meters has already been covered by the 65 meters we reserved.

Good software

Pros

From the very beginning, the software shows how much we can potentially save when we manage our fabrics and end cuts with proper control.

Cons

User limit is a problem for us. We can add more users but the cost gets too high for the number of employees who need access to the reports.
